Lidless Eye Hobbies: A Frolicking of Elves

Recommended Posts

That is a group of Elves, right?  A Frolicking?

First, we have the full frolicking:

Then, Lord Snootypants, a Paladin of some renown (a Warhammer Swordmaster Champion)

His associate, Sir Be'tar Tanu (a repainted Mage Knight piece, though I believe the sculpt is originally an Elf General by Ral Partha)

Some Elf hippie chick (from Dwarf Wars, I believe)

Dai'rai, actually a character piece for my ongoing Isle of Dread campaign, a Mystic of the Half-Elven persuasion (converted from Stonehaven's Elf Raider)

And, the most important Elf of them all, the Royal Pastromancer, Laird Keeb'lar (Stonehaven's Elf Baker)

(Apologies for the blurriness, I attempted to bypass the storm preventing outside photos by doing color correction, and it seems to have messed with some of them)

Normally I'd say a frolicking is hilariously accurate, but this is a pretty serious looking bunch of elves. 3 of em are outright scowling! then there is is the baker. Awesome.

Small, cohesive, groups or squads of minis like this are probably the most satisfying thing about the hobby for me. That said, the greatswordsmen is my fav. The baker is really fun, though

Thanks again, all!

Well, they are Elves...permanent scowls are probably just the result of some out of season wine.

The Swordmaster of Hoeth Champion from Isle of Blood is one of my favorite Elves.  He's got some odd undercut issues that were common with the first Warhammer CAD starter set guys, but he's so full of personality with a great armor design.  He's one of the first Elf minis that made me actually want to run him as a PC rather than an encounter.

Here you go, folks, my second of the four Warhammer warbands I've got (Here's the first). When I first started painting these, I was a bit worried about them looking just like a blob of gold, but I must say, I'm quite pleased with how the colors look. And that bird... That bird is my favorite. I tried speckling its breast and around its neck, but it just looks blotchy. Oh well.

I painted most of these figures quickly or experiment when I did so. The exception is the reaper figure. I didn't really paint his face with too much detail, you can't see it due to the hat and what I did paint is sufficient (white eyes, basic colour variation on skin).

      Lords

      Duelists
They look better in person (I swear, the light makes the skin look washed out more than it is, plus the hair has darker shadows.)

Feedback and Critiques are welcome and appreciated.

The dire crocodile, dire boar, and dire crab were one of the Bones 4 addons, and it doesn't look like they've hit retail just yet. Which is a shame, because we need more giant crabs.

The mud on the dire crocodile's base is just some water effect goo dribbled on that half of the base. The barnacles attached to the rocks on the dire crab's base were sculpted with green stuff. The rocks... those are just rocks.

So, a coworker and fellow painter gave me a bunch of unwanted Warhammer Underworlds Shadespire minis, so uh... Guess that's mostly what you guys will be seeing from me in the near future!

As I'm just naturally inclined to orcs, and these guys look absolutely awesome, I painted Ironskull's Boyz first. Also, finally got my hands on some premade washes, so I ditched homemade watered down paints on these. Personally, I think it made 'em look pretty good!

The number of ants that tried to photobomb this shot was ridiculous.

The lighting on the individual shots was being weird, so sorry if some are darker and other lighter!

I'm looking for something to stick Bones, specifically Ma'al Drakar's terrain, to a wooden base. It's not thick enough, at the area I want to place it, to pin effectively.

What kind of adhesives would work? I'm thinking epoxy, maybe? I just /really/ don't want to melt it accidentally and have to buy a new one.
