Pirate Sophie (01420)

Recommended Posts

Another day, another miniature for me to post. This one I was a little unsure of if I should post, but with how nice everyone has been I think I should! This one is the Pirate Sophie miniature, I saw it on Ebay and knew I had to have it! I have tried to make the parrot as realistic as I could, and for the photos I took heed of the advice given by Chaoswolf in the thread about my Wyvern, and have tried to get better light, though it has not been easy with my resources! Anyway here's the pictures, comments and advice are gratefully received!!

The parrot looks great! I like how you've picked out the details on her outfit.

She looks good, but you want to try not using a white background.  A white background makes you camera's internal light meter think the image is very bright so it darkens it.  Using in a more neutral tone for a backdrop, like a neutral grey would be good.  Then the light meter will read the light correctly.

She looks great; nice work on her!

The second set of photos are much better. Keep practicing with the pics; like any skill, you'll get better with time. ^_^

I painted most of these figures quickly or experiment when I did so. The exception is the reaper figure. I didn't really paint his face with too much detail, you can't see it due to the hat and what I did paint is sufficient (white eyes, basic colour variation on skin).

      Duelists
They look better in person (I swear, the light makes the skin look washed out more than it is, plus the hair has darker shadows.)

Feedback and Critiques are welcome and appreciated.

Finished these off. Really easy to paint and enjoyed the process. Reaper Razig shown on right for scale.

I backed the Pirates of the dread sea kickstarter and am really enjoying painting the minis. The book looks nice as well. The skeleton pirates need a wash, beige highlight, then basing. The humans need a beige highlight and basing.

This is my first mini painting, just finished it tonight. I have a lot to learn, especially the correct way to dry brush. But I followed a Reaper paint kit on the steps for their minis and this is what I came up with.

Once I get the hang of the minis themselves I'd like to learn to make custom bases, this one just looks awful as is.

For some reason I can't get the picture to show the color true either, it's a much more grayish blue than this bright color that is shown.

All in all, I'm pleased with its turn out.

Pulled this guy out of the current round of the Box of Goodwill and painted him up over the course of two evenings.

I apologize for the low quality photos, but I've had such low drive to get pictures taken lately that I just wanted to break the ice and get the ball rolling.
