I've updated the pinned Hangouts thread to point here, and directed that it be used for "who is on" type stuff.

 

On that note, I've opened https://hangouts.google.com/hangouts/_/4dxraigvo5cwnmu4t6voyeuplqefor the morning and will be there most of the day til about 4pm ET.

 

I've got it in a background tab with mic and camera off, so speak up if you want me to know you're there.

I would've jumped on last night, but my hobby night was stolen by technology.

 

Ended up installing Windows 10 on my computer via a snazzy new 1TB SSD. Still can't find the key for my Windows 7 box. Any video would have been me rummaging through closets for manuals and whatnot ("which of these ports is the 6G one??").

 

Then I decided to hook up my NAS, and forgot that for some reason the wired ports on my wifi router are slower than my wifi. Zzzz.

 

I'm just that exciting. Hopefully I'll get on Thursday night.

I can pop in during the day, but it will be chat only, and I won't always be able to listen in.

My hangouts also can't decide which email to use, maiden or married.... I'll change the profile photo on both so y'all know who I am.

 

Edit: Okay, I changed them to 2 different drawings of Mori, one colored, one not. I was having trouble seeing what inbox I was in at a glance haha.

This does confirm my sadness that folks not using the old hangouts don't see chat ;~;

We'll see if I can get on again tonight and do some more work on Shimmer (or something else) while on there. I think my wife has more appointments and won't be home until later.

This is my main issue with Google for personal use. We use it pretty extensively at work, and I also have multiple accounts for my personal setup (I like to keep family stuff and hobby stuff separate). Google does not respect that very well, I had a huge mess with my Youtube channel and basically stopped using it :(

 

I have many more issues with Google for professional use, what a mess of a company that is. I'm completely unsurprised the 'old' version is more robust.

Yep, old version is the thing. Logged in just to check it out, no mic/camera on my work computer. Brought up the old version and opened chat. Not sure anyone else sees chat :)

I much preferred the older Google+ stuffs, all their newer stuffs is pretty horrible. They can't leave well enough alone and keep making it worse.
