Silvervane's Zombicide Walkers WIP

Recommended Posts

So I could't stop myself from continuing with the walker.  More photo's to follow.

First Washing:

This step is reletavely simple.  However, I normally have a mix of Matte Medium and Flow Improver in a bottle cap to set up for the next stage on hand.  That is because as soon as the First wash is down I begin the next stage.  Can't really show that in photo's but here is the result of the First Zombiwash

Second Glazing:

Here is where it gets tricky.   In a pallet I have set up a couple of drops of inks from Scale75 Inktensity (here I used Black, chestnut, and purple) plus my zombiwash.  As noted previously I also have in a bottle cap (to prevent color contamination) the glaze/wash base.  The point here was to darken the previous wash into the deepest folds.  Using an Ink glaze plus zombiewash.  This need to be done somewhat quickly, as you are using the wash plus glaze to prevent stain lines.

White: Zombiwash plus black/chestnut ink glaze only into the most shadowed regions.

Pink: Zombiwash plus violet ink glaze into the deepest folds.

Blue: Left alone.

Third Glazing / Retouch Highlight:

Here I Just added black to the violet wash to line the shirt.  I then Took the highest highlight color on the white and skin on the top most raised spots, to hint at white.  I also color the eyes and teeth with maggot white to give a contrasting white to make them stand out a bit.  For my walkers I call them done, since they are only game pieces.

Indeed they are getting painted!  More progress on the Zombies.

I got the clothes of the second male finished.  I even gave an attempt at freehand.  Idea came to me from the color of the shirt.

Incredible !

You really have developed your brush and you color skills.

The subtle edging, and highlighting is phenomenal !

Magnificently done !

Thanks Jason.  Though to be honest I haven't really tried to be subtle.

Amazingly good!

I like the freehand!!!!

Keep it up!

Thanks Xherman.  It came out better than I had thought it would.  Going to try to enhance it more when I start the shadow glazing.

Highlighting is done on the other 3 now.  Glazing will comence latter today.  I want to get these finished up.  Had to rethink my painting schedule.  Since I am officially going to R'Con 16 now I need to begin work on my entries.  I'll still keep working on my Walkers but a bit more haphazardly.

Here they are highlighted:

These are looking fantastic !!

That white is so darned difficult also, and you are just kicking it's elf !

Like the choice for hair, it really solidifies, and contrasts with your other colors,

the freehand on pink shirt is outstanding !

Great work !

Go You !!!

Unfortunately didn''t get as much painting done as I had wanted to.  Nephews came over to visit.  They require alot of supervision to keep them under a loose term of behaved.  I have gotten them to paint in the past.  But today they just want to play outside.  So all I managed to get done was shading.  I still need to reclaim the pink of his shirt.

Here is where they made it to today.

Well with for the month I decided to paint for a few hours a day for this month.  Not sure how long I worked on this guy.  I primed and painted him up today.  Probably little over an hour.  Just want to get my walkers done.  So I want to see it I can get one done a day.

Also thought I would test out one of my Hanger 18 photo backdrops.

nicely done and the backdrop is perfect for that mini.

I would look at running the backdrop under the mini as well which would then give you a cohesive background without any sharp edges.

Thanks, the backdrop does run under but I still have the mini's attached to my medi caps.  I still have to run them through my 2 layers of gloss and 1-2 layers of brush-on sealer.

Here are a couple (quickly photo'd) more walkers in my endeavor to paint a mini a day for November.  The green one was finished yesterday and the pink one was finished today.  Bringing my mini total to 3 for day 3.
