Dice Tower Needing Finishing Touches

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I saw a couple of people online converting bird houses from Michael's into dice towers and after having great luck converting one of their cheap model ships into a spelljammer ship, I decided to give it a go. I took the bird house apart and stuck in all of the tower guts. Then I gave it a base paint job. I am thinking of painting some moss or vines onto the tower and also adding a crest of some sort on the front. I thought about adding a flag to the top, but I want to build this to withstand frequent transport as I play at a friend's house. I'd love to have some suggestions to spice it up. I want to use it as a display piece at home but then be able to take it to the table for play.

Sweet! Michael's Woodland Scenics kits have all sorts of flocking and whatnot that you can use as moss. Main problem is that it'll make the dice tower more "fragile" if it wears off.

Or how about banners? You could even make them removable, so that they can reflect what's happening in the game (eg. a scoreboard!).

Wow! I don't think my tower is going to end up as nice as yours, George!

My main inspiration is Daern's Instant Fortress. I wanted to make a multi use dice tower/play environment/display piece to show off some of my miniatures instead of just having them closed up in my case all the time.

Yeah I'm afraid to flock it due to wear. I was going to paint whatever details I was going to add. The past few game props I've made have been kind of a hassle to move due to fragility. I wanted to make something that I can just toss into the car and not worry about putting a seat belt on it.  :poke:

I was thinking about adding a suit of arms made from card stock over the door, but I really like your banner idea! Lot's of possibilities there!

& it doubles as tabletop scenery!! Nice work.

I think the Banner would look nice.Something you could just take & stick in a hole on the top. Gives you the options of storage & possibly changing it up whenever the mood strikes you.

Looking forward to the Q Workshop Kickstarter tower I'll be getting hopefully soon.
