89024: Holy Vindicator

I did this as a "Test" in colors reminiscent of the Protectorate of Menoth from the game Warmachine. I am generally pleased with the outcome.  It took WAY longer than I had anticipated but mostly because I was trying some new techniques and had several missteps.  I tried lining for the first time and while you may not see it as much as I had hoped, there was a drastic change from the pre-lined result which I think really was helpful.  I did something different with the base for the first time as well as I thought it was about time that I started making more effort to create a "complete package".  This was a simple terrain dust but it was my first experiment and I am pleased with that as well.  This was also not the best sculpt. Of all the Bones mini's I have purchased, this one had probably the most defects.  Coupled with my ineptitude, the right side of his face became utterly destroyed in my attempts to clean and reshape.  As a result, I decided to embrace this and gave him a serious facial scar which in my mind was inflicted upon him by a demoness wielding a fiery dagger after she attempted to seduce him into giving up his immortal soul and failing as his faith in the light is unshakable.  Comments and critiques are very welcome.

He looks very good, the white is very clean and the scar really reads as a scar!

Thank you, I was really careful to make sure the white worked as best as I could.  I used Creamy Ivory as a base and then worked up from there with various shades of white to create better color depth.  That scar was....un-fun.

I think that white and red look really excellent together. I really like it.

Thank you.  It was a struggle to find the right levels of color that I was looking for.  I mean A REAL struggle...this mini probably has an extra 4 layers of paint than it needs around the reds.

Hello everyone, I hope you're having a great Black Friday. Here are pictures of 50287, Cain the Cyber-Troll sculpted by Bobby Jackson.
This Chronoscope model was designed by Wayne Reynolds, Winner of the Reaper Con 2011 DYOM (Design Your Own Miniature) Auction. It is also available in Bones Black version under SKU: 49028.
I added the katana on its back to be faithful to the concept art illustration and painted it with Reaper MSP paint.

2020 has-been rough on everyone but some people have had it rougher than others.  A friend of mine is disabled and has had a really hard time just trying to keep basic necessities done.

I thought I would send her a little friend who's got simpler an cuter problems. Purple is her favorite color.  He goes out in the mail on Monday

      Hope you like him too...

Back when the Bones 4 Kickstarter was running, when the Giant Rhinoceros Beetle was revealed in the Fan Favorites set, someone posted this photo of a Frog riding a Beetle to the Enthusiasm Thread, and I knew it was a conversion I would eventually want to try.  I have an extensive Frog Army, and I wanted such a figure to be a Leader or Hero for my forces.

I had the pieces I needed at hand; the Bones Black "Giant Rhinoceros Beetle", and my rider - for which i  had decided to use the Bones "Mudcroak" Squog figure.

As I looked at Mudcroak, I knew I would have to separate him from his base, but I knew there was no way I could remove all those little toes from the base without damaging them.  So, right off the bat I made the decision to just remove his feet along with the base, with the plan that I would then resculpted them with greenstuff directly onto the beetle's back once I had the frog glued in place.

Here's a test fit, with the frog held in place with blue-tac.

      That's all for right now.

Ok, this may have been asked before and I have a terrible memory and I could not find a straight answer in the FAQ.

The white material vs the slightly less white material (not to be confused with bones black)
I have a what is essentially a bucket of bones miniatures from all 4 kickstarters.  Im a slow painter.
I decided to pick a few out to paint.  I painted Almaran the gold and noticed his head was deformed.  replaced it
Next I tried Durok the dwarf ranger and I noticed his right side did not mold correctly.  Nothing I could do about it but its fine not complaining.
Ive noticed most of my bones 4 that had the new grey material have not had these sort of issues.
I would show pics but I dont wanna...

My question is has this issue been fixed for the older bones miniatures,  Are they being cast in this new grey material?
