Thanks!

You know, we better be careful, or soon the minis will start their own thread on how to 'instruct and motivate' minions...

*** Shudder***

I like what you've done so far!

Keep up the good work!

*** Just don't give them any ideas, what is next? minis in the store telling us to buy them now and then start instructing us?..***

The Antares Red was followed by Aldebaran Red, then Aldebaran with Mars Orange on the horns, the jewelry got some Elven Gold as well...

Some touch up with Dark Elf Flesh around the jewelry to try and define it better...

Still need to do her Fishnets, Aryanun suggested metallic blue when I mentioned silver, other thoughts?

And the gems in her jewelry. I will likely try and do the metalics of her 5 heads again, unless I try straight up gems...

Comments and Critiques welcome!

(Her left eye still bugs me, but the sculpt is odd, so I have to live with it...)

I know I suggested gold before, but I'm now more inclined towards some sort of grey or light brown to provide contrast.  Especially if you're going to work in R, G, U, W, and G metallics for the gems.  My own wonkiness would not allow me to have metallic blue gems and metallic blue fishnets (plus my legs look awful in them).

So tonights work was adding in the gems on her jewelry, and I tried to replicate as best I could the colors of her 5 heads using metallics on the gems...

Black on the boots  (Black Metal and Inktense Black)

Green on her necklace and upper arm bands  (Emerald Alchemy and Inktense Green)

White on the Bikini jewelry  (White Alchemy)

Red on the legs bands  (Garnet Alchemy and Inktense Red)

Blue on her wristlets and hip jewels. (Cobalt Alchemy and Inktense Blue)

Painted the fishnets with a mix of Speed Metal and Cobalt Alchemy, and dry brushed the base with various colors and washes.

Trimed it in black, and multiple coats of Dullcote.

Will hit the gems with some gloss, and maybe some Tamiya clears??

then basing and off to show off!

There is very little to see, only around her ankles. I also didn't want it to be too garish. ..

3rd and 4th pictures show it best. ..

Got to second robinh's comment there. Also, this might be a little late to mention it, but the shading on the inner part of her right thigh makes it seem a little flat. These are minor things, otherwise it's looking awesome! Gloss on jewels also works, too.

So I did some more high lighting on her skin in the places mentioned, and realized that I hadn't painted her eybrows, so some MSP Leather White fixed that.

Did her lips with F&G Orcish Dermis, than washed with a very thin black was...

Trimmed up around the mouth, and dull cote....

Did the jewels with a touch of 'Ardcoat to make them shiny....

Hello all you fine purveyors or all things Reaper and miniature related!

So here this evening, I'm posting up a miniature sculpted by Dennis Mize back in 1989 (I actually looked at the bottom before adhering him on to his base) and you may or may not recognize him.

He's a more "realistic" version of a certain comic book classic, Groo the Wanderer, officially named in the Iron Wind Metal Site as a Brainless Barbarian:

In case you've never actually met him, here is what he looks like in the two-dimensional world:

Super-fun mini to paint, pretty straightforward, the only issue that I had created in my mind was painting his tunic orange, kind of to match his comic book coloring, but in the end it was a bit easier than I thought.  I think it was also way back in the day that maybe Dark Horse Miniatures made cartoon versions of him as miniatures.  I would one day love to snag some of those, but that will be for another Ebay adventure I'm sure.

So a double blast to the past, both in comic book and miniature form, hope you enjoy!

Continuing with my showcase of old Player Characters for Frostrun, we have Nox, the Drow Bard, represented by Astrid, Female Bard.

Nox was a fun challenge and one of the few times that I played around with color palettes online, and tried out some test drawings to really decide on colors and patterns ahead of time.  Settled on black and dark grey for the main colors, with red for pattern accents, and purple for a dash of flavor.  I feel it lands properly in the category of a dark entertainer without reading too much like a Harley Quinn knock-off.  Though the player she was designed for loves Harley so I'm sure the similarities were appreciated.

      Reverse side under the spoiler:

Nox is a Drow Bard and a newcomer to Frostrun.  Nox left behind her home in the Underdark to seek out a life of adventure and fame as a traveling entertainer, but soon found herself on the wrong side of the law.  With nowhere else to go, Nox has turned towards Frostrun, the edge of civilization.  A place where people are judged not by their past, but by their ability to survive.  Unfortunately, a dark force has threatened her one chance at redemption.  Will Nox rewrite the tale and come out a legend?  Or will darkness have its way and leave her as a footnote in someone else's song?

Read her story and check out the rest of the Frostrun project HERE.

      Hello Reaper brethren,

So some more Shadowrun tonight, a Female Rigger with Pistol, sculpted by Jim Johnson, that enigmatic sculptor of yore.  I ended up really liking this figure, just general fun, and when I saw her shirt and coat, it reminded me a little bit of a Russian sailor, so tried some stripes on the t-shirt and some kind of dark blue peacoat.  I was really struggling to figure out what color I wanted her boots to be and almost made them bright yellow, but then calmed down and went for a redstone shadow base color.  I of course see all my imperfections and dots of dust but it seems that for the most part, once I've gotten to that part of taking pictures, unless I see something really gawdawful, I'm just not going to do any repainting or touching up.  So here she is in all her lilac haired glory:

I took a lot of different angles because she's one of those not so flat figures, where just a front and back seem to be enough. As always, metals are torture, but if you don't keep trying to paint something you'll never get better, so just paint and paint again.

      So, enjoy!

Good evening all you Reaper hooligans!

So another figure finished, this time a Ral Partha Shadowrun Female Detective, sculpted by Dave Summers, probably latter eighties to early nineties.  Kind of difficult with the eyes because they were small little balls, but otherwise, pretty okay with how she turned out. Gun a little too blue, but probably won't ever fix that I'm guessing.  I kind of like this figure because she's from their Shadowrun line, but she could easily be any normal, modern detective gal. I tried to do very a mild colored blouse, pinkish, with a grey skirt and jacket.  This is also the first time I've worked on pantyhose, so let me know what you guys think. It was after painting her legs as normal skin color, I did some washes of first storm grey, then Dark elf skin shadow, and then finally black.

Anyhow, let me know what y ou think about the pantyhose and hope you enjoy!

      Good morning Reapermaniacs,

So here's one I've had painted for about a week or so but have never just gotten around to sit down at my normal computer to post him.

This one is one I've actually had for a long time, and it's an old lead version back from the seventies.  I had to at one point I think scrape off some paint. I had another newer version of him, but the detail was pretty soft so ended up painting up the original, whose details were so much more nice and crisp.

And being he was a "high" elf, I wanted him to have some nice light colors, no greens and browns.

      Anyhoos, here he is:

I've been on a recent kick painting these older miniatures, even old by Partha standards (pre-eighties).  I think I'm going to keep painting them, putting them into my normal mix of newer, old Partha figures.  In any case, hope you like them!
