He is from the Thunderbolt Mountain set #8046, Wood Elf Huntsman w/ Dogs.  Like all Thunderbolt Mountain figures they are sculpted by Tom Meier, the legendary talent behind Ral Partha.  The set includes two dogs; I painted four of them up here.

The wood elf huntsman comes with empty hands and a bow, a sword, and a beautiful curling hunting horn.  This is the first time I have glued things into hands and it took a lot of fiddling.

The site claims these are 30mm but I don't think they are even 28mm.  They are very delicate compared to Reaper elves and their faces (and eyes!) are impossibly tiny, albeit beautiful.

I painted him quite dark because I've done enough pale elves for the moment.

For now he is primed with white and washed with Burnt Umber.  I nearly finished his base because I painted it at the same time as the hounds.  His face includes complex blends of Burnt Umber, Burnt Sienna, Raw Sienna, Red Oxide, and Titanium White.  His eyes and brows are pure Carbon Black.

Oh Thank You Pingo !!!!

By now everyone knows I adore Tom's work, and I would honestly say that I learned to paint doing his small, exquisite

miniatures.  Just seeing your burnt umber wash shows me the beautiful folds, and deep sculpted details.

I can't wait to see what you do with him!

I bet he will be spectacular when you are done !

Go You !!!!

      Good evening my Reaperhoovians!

So just finished up this little blister pack of Shadowrun Elves sculpted by Ral Partha either latter eighties/early nineties, by Dennis Mize.  Two ladies and two gentlemen, challenge as always was figuring out what colors I wanted for them.  Being it's all funky monkey science fictiony, can't help but thinking of a little more lively colors and lively hair colors for the most part.

and I figured the last figured I'd do as a Drow, no idea if there are any Drow in Shadowrun but painting's not solving world peace or saving lives, so even if there are no Drow in Shadowrun, nobody will lose a finger.

And here's the group as it's all together:

I wanted them to fit all in one page so I didn't put them on bases, and I painted the rim black, and I can see a little bit of irregularities on that.  Not sure if I may eventually actually either repaint the base or actually put them on bases so they don't fall over.  The biggest problem is after I take them off their temporary base, I don't want to touch them and that's where it all gets tricky.

Anyhow, a problem for later, hope you enjoy these in the meantime!

Greetings to those of the Clan Reaper!

I think this has got to be one of the quirkiest figures I've painted, a Chickinasaurus sculpted by Tom Meier from his Sparkle and Savage range, from Theoland!

I was a bit confused as to what colors to make him, so thinking about chickens, I tried to imitate a nice brown chicken with a green tail, hopefully he turned out okay:

a really nice and simple figure to actually paint!

      Hello Reaperlonians!

Here's one I just finished, a pretty simple miniature, Whaleboy, from Tom Meier's Sparkle and Savage range with Thunderbolt Mountain, that he sculpted for his kids. There's a Squidboy too that I hope to get painted one of these days:

A very enjoyable figure to paint!

So hello there all you Reaperlies!

So here is Squidboy, a figure sculpted by Tom Meier originally for his Thunderbolt Mountain range and currently available out at Ral Partha Legacy.

The hardest thing with this figure was to figure out what color are squids and eventually made him pink.

Judging by his t-shirt, I have a feeling he is supposed to be the archenemy of Whaleboy, in a recent posting of mine.

      Anyways, please enjoy!

      Good morning Reaperniks!

So I've had this mini painted already about a week, but here in Omaha, it's been mostly kind of cloudy and rainy, so wasn't able to get a decent picture until this morning.

This is Merlyon the Sorcerer, formerly of Thunderbolt Mountain and now being released by Ral Partha Legacy. Pretty fun figure to paint, and it's more akin to that 25 mm of yore:

I still have a few more from this range I want to get around to painting. This one also had the eyeholes poked into the eyes, but they worked out this time pretty simply.
      Eyeholes in the owl too!

      Anyhoos, please enjoy responsibly!
