I will collect a lot...Bones III is ordered and will bring me The Jungle Titan, Plant Dragon, Jungle Plants, Froghemoth and Dagon and a Werecroc among other things.

Here is what I have already.

Not sure if all will be used, I'm still thinking about the Ice Devil and such things.

If I do I might also add an Ankheg and more insectlike Critters.

Here we have a DSA T-Rex, Bones and Metal Dragonmen, The Brood Dragon, Reptus Lizardmen, Lizardmen, DSA Gatorman, Frogmen, all kinds of Snakemen, Mariliths and Snakes, Axebeak.

Brood of Payanak and an Othsworn Armadillo in Inca gear which would make a nice addition.

I believe many Jungle Animals will join this army out of fear or necessity.

Oh and a GW Stegadon and Terradons ( Metal/no riders) are on their way too.

Also I still have a monitor lizard familiar somewhere.

The Idea Is to build regiments. Maybe mixed or each species it's own regiment.

Must think about it.

Monsters and such sometimes as Unit fillers sometimes as units on their own.

Little scenes as unit fillers

And lots of different colours.

HOORAY FOR BIG PROJECTS! This has a lot of potential for an ongoing creation of MONUMENTAL proportions...if you feel like it.

As a long time painter of "armies", for myself, but mostly for other Folk, I'm looking forward to your progress...I love Group Photos.

Have FUN with it all!

*flails*

Dinosaurs are warm blooded!!

=P looking forward to what you do

I know I know...

But the Lizards, Frogs and Snakes will be the majority of the Army.

The Dinos will be the eyecatchers I hope.

Oh, And SIri...I LOVE your Dino paintings and the Carnosaur you're painting.

I wished there were a few good 28mm feathered Dinos out there,

Like a feathered T-Rex.

For now it will have to be the Fantasy Style Dino without feathers.

I've lately ordered a lot more minis and bases.

All for this fun army.

Prepping and painting starts today.

( slow...because I also have the nativity set, the Countess and a Dragon Hatchling on the table)

Hope to show some progress later this day.

**** START!!!***

So I will start the project with a mini I have had for decades...

:

This is a T-Rex from DSA, Das Schwartze Auge ( The Dark Eye ). The Mini is Called : The Devourer.

He is kinda big so instead of any unit filler, this one will be a solo Monster.

I will use predominantly square bases for the Army, but I did have some Oval and round Jungle bases already.

This is a 60mm Microart Studio Base.

I figured it would look great with him.

But I hated the metal brocolli.

Clippers and Jeweler Saw applied, drilling the legs with a paperclip for pinning.

So I applied a bit of Vallejo Surface primer and Heavy Warm Grey for the inside of the mouth.

I will now paint his teeth with a Reaper Bone triad.

While doing this, the Mailman came!!

He brought me the Ebay Order.. A Metal OOP Stegadon from GW ( No Riders) and 2 Terradons ( one is missing a head, but I knew that,. It will be sculpted)

The Stegadon will be done later, he will get the Oval Jungle base from Basicks.

Crew will be Reaper. I'm not sure yet if it will be Lizardmen, Frogmen, Turtle Men or Reptus..

The Terradon will be without Riders.

I want them to be the Flying monsters.

And I don't play games with them anyway.

This Army is purely for me.. ( maybe in the afterlife they will protect me, like the terracotta Army ::P: )

      Another one bites the dust….😆

One of my favorite sculpt…but in the old Bones plastic. I put a little extra into the base, otherwise it was a pretty straight forward zen of Bones quick paint job. Overall I like the scheme and it has given me ideas for when I paint my metal version. Not sure about the green face and the blue glow under the rib cage is too subtle.

And as an aside …..the quality of Testors Dullcoat is not nearly as good as it was a decade ago. The newer formulation continues to give me a semi gloss finish.  Oh well.

      My stash will arrive today!
I haven't done a WIP in a very long time , something I intend to remedy.
I am extremely excited to get my hands on my contribution to Bones 5, the Whispering Ghoulsbane. Maybe more so than any prior piece I have made. Seeing as how I don't actually have the mini in had at this moment, Id thought I'd fill this space with some history about the concept.

I like to watch reviews for feedback on pieces I've made (and learned a lot).  A few review waffled on what the thing was, exactly. Part of me revels in this ambiguity -it is what you want it to be. That said it does have a mundane monster  origin story.......wait, say, lets make a game of it!

Which "old school" monster served as the primary inspiration for the Whispering Ghoulsbane? take a guess.

Wait wait wait! it's here, at this very moment! Delivery! let the prepping begin.
      Step 1: Open the bag.

      That is all for now.

My 8 year old son painted these shortly after his birthday last spring. I actually liked his colors and the pattern on the Carnotaurus. Mostly I was over joyed that he didn’t glob the paint on for once. A few weeks ago I decided to paint the eyes, teeth, claws, and base for him. Them a coat of sealer.  I think they look great for the toy box. Here are my crappy before and after.

Wasn't totally happy with how this came out. I wanted a reptilian version of a tiger pattern for stalking in the jungle. Colour scheme worked I think and overall it's a great model but it has some issues I struggled with.

It's not symmetrical, the ridges and scales on each side are in different places and don't align making the patterning problematic. That coupled with the fact that some of the larger scales fade out and a lot of the smaller scales are almost indistinct took some of the fun out if it. Normally I enjoy doing scales and applying washes and dry rushing as well as picking out patterns on individual scales but this was hard work.

Will still make the kids worry when it hits the tabletop though 🙂
