Lost World Project Glitterwolf Paints Coldblooded Creatures and Conquistadores

Recommended Posts

Although geographically wrong this guy will be one of the inhabitants of the jungle.

Let's just say my world isn't completely the same as the real one...

This is the mini I want to use water effects on the base for like I asked here:

https://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/86300-resin-water-effects-how-to-seal-a-base/&page=2&tab=comments#comment-1830734

We're talking about 03884 Komodo Dragon sculpted by our own @TaleSpinner.

I wanted to paint this bad baby since I saw it in the store.

Man oh man, I wish I could figure out how the make a spine ridge for this guy, he would be a great Dimetrodon

I would do it with thin bamboo skewers as a framework for a piece of silk, stiffened with acrylic paint. Bonus points for leaving it a little translucent.

I know, the thought crossed my mind, but I already have a small and a huge Dimetrodon waiting for paint.

And I love this sculpt and Komodo Dragons, so I'm going to paint it like one.

Dimetrodon will appear in the hopefully not to near future.

I got a tiny Ral Partha one and a huge Schleich one which will get repainted.

That's a sweet model!  I like that you've raised it up high.

Thanks, the idea is to create a water beneath him with some fish/marinelife, maybe a frog or octopus. Not decided yet.

Hence my asking about how to seal a base when pouring resin.

Thanks!

I'm grateful for the link Sistermarynapalm sent me, I got some new insights because of that.

Normally I'm a bit reluctant to paint horses, but this time I really enjoyed it.

They're not finished yet of course, but I think they will look better than what I first had in mind.

One of the great things about this forum, people helping, giving advice and pointing each other in the right direction.

As for the Elder Beasts, we're slowly getting there, they have been mentioned before.

There will be a major scalecreep, I think because they predated the Dinosaurs and still survived, they have evolved to grow even bigger and meaner.

I like to make up stories, this is a big one, and I do hope I don't bore you all with it.

It gives me an incentive to paint more, the story and the minis might not be chronological but still, it's part of the fun to me.

Dunkleosteus, gorganops, and dimetrodon are all on my short list of things I want to sculpt.  Now if I can just find a client who wants them so i can justify it.

Wow, several of those pictures are the same as I used to sculpt him.  I'm extremely excited that you are painting this one.

I love reptiles and dinos.

When this was released I knew I had to have one.

Looking at these pics there are several choices to make about the colours, they aren't as dull as one might think.

I'm excited about painting such a great sculpt, and the base will get a water effect, this will be my first resin pour water effect.

Until now I used still water and water effect paste from Vallejo for shallow water.

We're going a bit deeper here.

I will add some more stuff.

If Reaper ever release this one in Bones I will add more and create different poses with them.

I think this sculpt looks like a real one, I love it!

As for the things you'd like to sculpt...

Hey Reaper!

These would be great follow ups to the Lost Valley from Bones IV, we love prehistoric monsters here!

Impressive how that base is coming together.  From the beginning of the previous post to the end, I wouldn't have realized it was the same structure.  You really transformed it.

Thanks!

Now hoping this will work out because this will be my first scenic water effect base where I will use something other than Vallejo Stillwater or Water effect Paste.

I have a two part resin from AK Interactive and also ordered this from greenstuffworld, I think I might go with that one for this base.

UV Resin. It's a gel which you need to expose to UV light ( either natural or artifical) to harden.

I have also ordered the UV torch.

UV Resin 17mlUltraviolet Torch

And I'm still studying the pics to decide which colours I will use, especially the head has different interesting options from the look of those.

Using this mold from Tinyworld I applied the UV Transparent Resin Gel from Greenstuffworld.

Let's see how this behave.

I'll let it dry in the sunlight now, hopefully it will give me two transparent fish for my base.

I took Ristul's Fantasy Market Resin Bugs and added a few that look like Trilobite/wurm/seacucumber/sponge like creatures.

Creating more sealife on the base.

@vhaidra

Since you like to see more about basing..
