That's some pretty good progress, Xherman! And a majorly kick-elf paint job, too!

This looks very cool.

I'm a bit sad that your stuff isn't going to hit the table for a game of Kings of War or Dragon Rampant or something else.

Thx guys.

I can use the motivation and cheers.

This is just the beginning.

My units will be fairly small due to the not gaming part. I want them to look like a unit for display purposes, overall it will be like 8 snakemen plus one big snakeman on a 40mm base as filler. In game effects this would lead to a unit of 12.

Maybe some units will be bigger but this will be how my infantry will look.

I will make "cavalry" from Raptors like 5 or 6 of them in a unit.

And then Troll sized monsters or big insects in units of 3.

Big guys like the T-Rex will be solo monsters.

And some characters/heroes of course.

The horde will grow over years.

I only played Warhammer 3 times and 40 K 2 times I guess, years ago.

Nowadays I just play on PC and paint/build for fun.

There will be more projects.

Aside from Busts, big models and solo minis, I want to build a few other armies and smaller warbands.

Plans are - Gothic Undead

                - Egyptian style Undead

                - Oldschool Realm of Chaos ( including Greenskins)

                - An all female Barbarian warband with lots of animals ( mammals, both prehistoric as modern)

Let's hope i get the time to do it all.

Remember I'm a slow painter.

I am always torn as to whether or not to base the minis I paint for gaming or display. Since I believe every Toy Soldier has the inalienable right to be played with, I usually opt for the gaming base...a fancy gaming base, but a gaming base nonetheless. It's been decades since my miniatures have seen any table top violence, but they are ready should the occasion arrive. All that is my take on the gaming/not gaming question.

All will be based in an appropiate matter.

If they ever see a game, I could merge the Snakes with the Lizards and declare it to be one unit of reptiles..

Of course I use the very fancy resin jungle bases of 3 different manufacturers to make them look good..

With Kings of War you don't really have to choose.  Because models aren't removed from units, you can push little dioramas around the table.

Some new recruits came in today and bases.

Ral Partha.

The Raptors and the Beetles are a bit smaller then expected, so these will become swarm animals or adorning bases from bigger creatures.

It does mean I need some more bigger Raptors. I ordered the Reaper ones and I need some more to bulk that unit out.

The T-Rex however....

Man!!!!

I was already very happy with the DSA T-Rex, who will be mounted on a 60mm round base!

Now look at his bigger cousin from Ral Partha!!!!

Also my Tabletop Art bases arrived.

Lizard City bases and Two Woodland Flying Bases.

And 4 Lizard / Dino Skulls/Helmets.

( I'm waiting for the Microart Jungle bases now)

Due to the size of the Ral Partha T-Rex he will get the 120mm Oval base from Basicks and the Stegadon will get a large rectangle base.

I also painted some.

The DSA T-Rex got a coat of Reaper Brush on Sealer to protect him from flaking...He will get more paint later.

For now I worked on the Base.

This is a Micro Art 60mm Round Jungle Base.

I used Scale 75 Slimer Green, Greenskin Green,Brown Leather and Vallejo Heavy Grey.

Captain Luigiano was running for his life.

He had escaped the attack of the horde.

The Captain had seen the first men fall and decided for a strategic retreat covered by his men.

Of course he "forgot" to inform his men about this.

The sounds of guns firing and the screams of the dying faded behind him.

The Captain held dear to the golden plaque.

He was certain he could raise a new expedition if he made it home.

The lure of gold with the plaque as proof of the existence of the Golden City would be enough.

After running for what seemed hours, he slowed down.

Far enough.. this must be far enough...

Now to slowly track his way back to the shore and his ship..

It all happened so fast!

The first men fell due to poisoned darts, the big terror Lizard ripped men apart.

The cannon was brought in place, but when the Master Gunner wanted to lit the fuse, a flying creature swooped down and picked him up.

The creature looked like a crossbreed between a bird and a crocodile.

It flew higher and higher and then dropped the Master Gunner.

He screamed all the way down...

That was the moment Luigiano turned tail, the hell with this!

These men would not be able to defeat these monsters.

At least they could buy him his escape!

Next time he would bring a Wizard, or a Steamtank or maybe both, he thought,

Yes, next time...

He stopped and sat down on a big treetrunk.

Took his little flask and drank the last Rum.

He was far enough now... better slow down, he would need his strength to reach the shore.

He reached into his tunic, and got the golden plaque. The gemstones forming the snake symbol reflected the sunlight.

So beautiful...

A city full of such treasures would make him rich beyond his dreams.

All he needed would be more fools to find and raid that city.

One day he would succeed.

He looked up from the gem and stared into the eyes of a large snake.

Sssuuchooi handed the golden plaque over to the Priest of the Living Lizard God.

It was back where it belonged.
