Teaser Excerpt From Shadowrun Fan-Fic

Recommended Posts

Deep in VR, the icon of the hacker sent to assist Mod screamed and vanished. He stopped, and just as he realized what happened a large wound appeared on his icon's leg. "Crap." He thinks, clenching his jaw in pain. He switches back to AR and looks around the room where he's jacked in. A large explosion had torn the room to shreds, and shrapnel had severed his femoral artery. Blood sprayed from the injury with every heart beat. Only a couple of minutes before he bled out. He activated his earpiece. "Imouto, can you hear me?" He huffed through gritted teeth.

High above Essen, atop Lofwyr's back, Maisie heard Mod's pained voice. "Mod, what's wrong?"

"I'm hurt, Maisie. Bad. I don't have enough time to reprogram the system. I have to shut it down."

"What happened to the other hacker?"

Mod looked to his left and saw the other hacker severed almost completely in half by a plate of plasteel. "Dead."

"Hang on, Ani. We'll get help!"

"No time. I have to set the program now before I bleed out. Love you, kid. Wreak some havoc."

Maisie grew quiet, then angry. "Lofwyr...let's bring that oversized son of a woof down."

"There is no time! We must get you to the Primer!" The great dragon's voice boomed in Maisie's head.

"Then do it!" Maisie snapped. The gold dragon let out a roar and dived into the fray.

Back down at the jackpoint, Mod's body went limp as he switched back to VR. He set the program to shut the system down. He went to jack out, but was hit by a surprise attack from IC, jamming his connection open. Mod gasped as everything went black. Outside, every drone and guard linked to the system shut down and crumpled to the ground. Mod's body began to twitch and spasm from the massive surge of biofeedback as the system crashed. The seizure only stopped after the force of the spasms ripped the wires from his datajack. His body went limp and his fried brain forced a few more ragged breaths before his body finally succumbed to blood loss.

Ok, so few explanations here. "Imouto" is Japanese for "Little Sister", and "Ani" is "Big Brother". They are not actually related, but are like family to each other. As for the rest, I'll allow you to speculate. ;)

Hello there all your Bones 6 supporting Reaperodytes!

So I've been pretty busy since my last finished mini, and I went to Mexico for 11 days to visit my wife's family and to do a bit of vacationing, so I've been been finishing minis as quickly as I've wanted to, but things are slowly going back to normal so I've got a couple minis that I just finished.  Being these were a set of four too means I wanted to work on them all together.

So here are Ral Partha's Shadowrun Blood Mages, I think sculpted in the second half of the nineties(?) by Dave Summers.

They are kind of loosely based on Mexican/Aztec colors, even though the axe wielder I thought originally looked more oriental. As I was actually able to see his little mustache though, it reminded me kind of Cantinflas, but that was after I'd already gave him a more Asian instead of Native American hue and I just kept going on from there.

So I took these all this afternoon with my iPhone, because after seeing the photos I took from my normal camera they were kind of dark photos (in all fairness though it was a cloudy day with very blah light) and the iPhone versions were quite a lot more vibrant.  I may though wait for another sunny day and retake photos with my other camera.

These were actually some very fun figures to paint. With all the feathers I was able to use a lot more colors than I probably would have put on a single figure and I still don't feel the colors are too much. You might have a different opinion, and if so, please let me know. I'd love to hear what you think!

      Anyhoos, hope you enjoy!

      Good evening my Reaperhoovians!

So just finished up this little blister pack of Shadowrun Elves sculpted by Ral Partha either latter eighties/early nineties, by Dennis Mize.  Two ladies and two gentlemen, challenge as always was figuring out what colors I wanted for them.  Being it's all funky monkey science fictiony, can't help but thinking of a little more lively colors and lively hair colors for the most part.

and I figured the last figured I'd do as a Drow, no idea if there are any Drow in Shadowrun but painting's not solving world peace or saving lives, so even if there are no Drow in Shadowrun, nobody will lose a finger.

And here's the group as it's all together:

I wanted them to fit all in one page so I didn't put them on bases, and I painted the rim black, and I can see a little bit of irregularities on that.  Not sure if I may eventually actually either repaint the base or actually put them on bases so they don't fall over.  The biggest problem is after I take them off their temporary base, I don't want to touch them and that's where it all gets tricky.

Anyhow, a problem for later, hope you enjoy these in the meantime!

Black on black, your standard sci-fi street-runner.  Gave his coat a touch of purple just to give the eye something to look at.

      Good afternoon my Reapergogglians!

So just finished up Ann Penchyk, a Shadowrun character apparently (don't know too much about Shadowrun still, after months and months of painting different Shadowrun figures.

I really dig this little blister pack, where we have Ann dressed in her corporate 9-5 job, and then the another version of her, the "adventurer" version of her.  So with that in mind, I at least tried to keep her skin tones, hair color, et cetera the same so it looks like she just might be the same gal in different attire.

      9-5 Ann:

and how she spends her time Shadowrunning on the weekend:

and here they are together, side by side:

This is the first Shadowrun orc I've painted and from what I could tell with all the other artwork I've found on line, Shadowrun orcs can be any normal person's skin color, so even though I thought it was a bit strange, I painted her starting out with Tanned Highlights and worked up and down from there instead of doing some type of green base.

So ta-ta for now, hope you enjoy!

      Hello all you Reaperhemians!

So my last four minis were a blister pack of Ral Partha Shadowrun Tribals, sculpted by Dennis Mize, with a date stamped on the bottom of 1992, so 19 years ago.(EDIT -apparently I can’t do math. I was thinking a moment ago, wait, my kid is twenty eight years old and he was born in 1992, so the miniature is actually 28 or so years old!)  I really enjoyed working on these figures.  The first thing was the Native American skin, for which I used the Redstone Triad to get figured out.  I hope it doesn't look too red.   The other thing was all the beads they have on their clothing, for which I gave up and decided to go with the same colors for each bead set, even though I though of doing different colors in the same string of beads but kind of gave that thought up because I didn't want it to take forever.  The other thing I kind of tried was to use a red, white and blue color theme for the accents, with their natural leathers and I threw in a bit of green and yellow.

So anyways, hope you all enjoy!
