Paint adheres poorly to me anyway, on account of being covered in a greasy film.

Do NOT use Ral Partha paints on him. They'll only get absorbed and make him more powerful.

Basic is good. There's nothing extra in them, so it keeps him weak. Covering him in large rocks is also recommended. Consider it to be large-scale basing practice.

Well done, repaint can make wonders for a DDM miniature! The sculpts are often not bad at all. Alot of them are actually very nice, it's just the paint job that is poor out of the box.

True, they were made to be a passable job for tabletop games. WOTC had someone paint one of them and tell them every step in the process, then WOTC says, " That's great!.......now reduce it down to three steps." Guess the little kid hands in the factory can't deal with that much detail.

As has already been mentioned; there are actually some pretty decent figures out there if you can look past the horrible factory 'paint' jobs.
