03292: Almaran the Gold, Paladin With Flaming Sword

Recommended Posts

Wow!  NMM looks great.  Only thing I can think to add, is if the gold is supposed to be shiny, maybe bring the here you think the light is hitting from on the higher points up to a few points of a brighter off white.  That a personal choice on my part though.  I think your blending is better than the Gold NMM I've been doing lately.

It came out great!

Who extinguished his sword?

Haha!, am not confident enough to paint OSL, and OSL on NMM is far beyond my skills at the moment...but filing and sanding, that I can do  ::D:  ::P:

Thank you for the kind words and advice.  It most certainly could do with more bright spots to convey that "shine" which is currently missing in my work. Thanks!

That is some impressive metallic-effect painting, with very smooth blending and subtle coloration and clean, crisp tiny edges and highlights on even very small surfaces. That's also a very nice face, distinctive and expressive.

My friend is playing a fighter in a Pathfinder game, so I decided to take a break from my Batman game to paint up a figure for her, though I decided to paint two.

I asked her what her favorite color is, and she said "Blue", so I painted up a mini with lots of blue.  If I paint her again I think I'd pick out the fleur-de-lis in a different color, to make it stand out some more.

I wasn't sure if I should post this in Show off or WIP, but I figured here and if you would please forgive the in progress parts in the subsequent post.

Ron let me paint this lovely sculpt by Gene Van Horne.  Actually, I think I might have begged to paint it and considered stealing it from his office if he refused.   She'll be in the Greek Odyssey Expansion for Bones V.  If by some miracle you have come to this forum and not heard of Bones V, it can be found here.  Aaron Lovejoy was awesome and took some high definition photos of her after last Reapercon.

I really love this sculpt, can't say that enough.  She's got some fantastic detail, lots of good open space to work on blending or freehand, even a scenic base to play with stone effects.  While I loved the original Yephima by Patrick Keith, and still use her in my classes, this one really screams warrior to me.  I need to paint my bones version when I get it as Athena. I'll have to add a shield somewhere, though. Maybe convert the club to a spear.  Decisions decisions.

Anyway, feel free to ask questions.  I'm happy to explain or help with anything!  I'm going to post the WIP pictures I have in another post, so hopefully those will also be useful.  Enjoy!

Bones 4 core set #20.  Could not find a release # for him yet.  I took this guy and a few of his pals to Reapercon to work on in my spare time (ha!) and got him base coated using some of the new Pathfnder paint set.  I couldn't help but notice the chickens and the look of terror on his face, thus the name.   Finished him with a basic drybrush and wash for table top play.

      Hi folks,

My very first snow base! I haven't attempted Non-Metallic Metal on a shield like this before and I'm happy with how it's turned out :)

      Thanks,
      Mocha
