Multiple cages? That is why I ordered multiples.

With me needing cages for my RCon games, I kinda wish I had order those now. Ha ha, since I was one of the first orders out the door on this one. Oh well always Fat Dragon 3D printed ones.

I've finished the flat floor pieces from the six basic boxes (3x kickstarter reward), because I can use those right away with the Dwarven Forge pieces I have. I've finished the two bridge sets that I got. I'm almost done with the 12 doors from the basic boxes; just some details remaining. Not sure which pieces I'll work on next.

I don't usually try to do one color on the entire project for something this big. The economies of scale aren't significantly better than doing them in batches, and I get more of a feeling of accomplishment when I actually finish pieces more regularly.

I decided to do the cave pieces for both this and the DF caverns in more of a grayish yellow to suggest limestone, which seems to be working fairly well so far. Still doing the floors in gray to match the rest of the tiles, which is a bit odd but I don't think it will be too obtrusive.

As far as what I've painted. Pretty skimpy compared to some of yah, but I've started working on the cauldron from the Troll Hole set (All I ordered). I'll be using that as scenery in We Be Goblins. I did add a arm & hand from a Wizkid's Horrorclix mini to the pot, since the encounter with it suppose to be a goblin in a stew pot.

I'm kinda stuck on what color to paint the pot. Thinking of a metallic as the texture suggest a beaten up pattern to it + I really don't want "anther black cauldron".

Very nice piece I must say.

If it's sitting on top of a fire, the bottom is going to be covered in carbon, but you could use bronze or copper, possibly with some verdigris for the higher parts of the cauldron to get something different looking.

Update here: no update here.

Should've waited one more day. Box arrived (along with a package for my mother at their house next door, because FedEx is incompetent here). Haven't dug into it yet, but I was taken aback by its hefty weight. I didn't think I got that much.

I was also surprised by just how much I got. Used to dwarven forge, now I have more Tablescapes than DF caverns.

That suits me fine, I actually like this product design better and use mines way more. Man  do I ever wish this was prepainted though. Would have gladly paid double or more.

Having originally collected Dwarven Forge stuff, I just wish Secret Weapon had paid more attention to the right angles and straight lines along their edges.  I was spoiled by DF’s sharp crisp squared edges and perfectly straight sides...this mine terrain is all kinds of wonky along the edges.

I still like it though, and think it was a great value for what it cost... Just wish it was a little sharper.

I got all my stuff in last week. It looks great!

Are people priming these? If not, do people think a thin base coat of spray paint would work, or is there a possibility of the surface going tacky?  The material is a pretty light color, so I'd like to make it uniformly dark before starting, in the easiest way possible. That way I can just build up layers of drybrush like I do with Dwarven Forge stuff.

Yes, it will be tacky if you use the wrong spray; it’s a lot like Bones.  I had success with Army Painter, and with Krylon Camouflage with Fusion. Rustoleon Paint &Primer left it tacky.

I would be careful with spray paint. Many kinds can react to the PVC. Chris is right on the money. I sprayed Krylon Camouflage with Fusion to prime one set of these tiles and it worked great. I didn't try the Army Painter primer on these specific tiles, but I've used it on a bunch of Reaper and CMON PVC figures and never had any trouble with it drying tacky.

The store I buy Krylon from was sold out so I decided to see if the Rust-Oleum version worked the same. It doesn't. I sprayed one set of these tiles with Rust-Oleum Camouflage 2x Ultra Cover and it did leave the tiles tacky. Ended up ordering a bunch of Krylon cans online. I do have some Army Painter primer and love it, but the humidity is so high where I live that there aren't many days that I can use it. Krylon works much better in humid areas so its become my go to plastic primer. The Brown color is perfect if you want dark tiles. It's a super dark brown. I used the Khaki color for a sandy looking base coat.

Yes, I wish I had used the Brown, as it would have more closely matched the Dwarven Forge base color.  I just used black without thinking, and it doesn't quite match the Df stuff.
