lowlylowlycook
I caught a lot of Gibles today. Perhaps too many.
Julio Johnson
I don't play this game, but my son plays a lot. I think there is nothing wrong with that. Since I have heard that Pokemon Go and other "augmented reality" systems greatly increase the desire of gamers to move and maintain a high level of physical activity. Japanese sociologists write about this in the Journal of Medical Internet Research. I believe that this kind of entertainment can take gamers into the world of sports and physical activity. By the way, on YouTube, you can find videos in which the authors confirm from their experience that the game still affects the increase in physical activity. ... I found a couple of videos on this topic there and noticed that in most cases such videos had almost 78 thousand views. I am sure that in order to achieve such indicators, their authors often buy youtube views in order to quickly increase their number. lowlylowlycook
Yeah, I mostly use it to motive me to get out and walk. I definitely go out in weather that I wouldn't if I had no exterior motivation. Just be careful. Any "free to play" game is a slippery slope once you start putting money in.
Cyradis
It isn't a hard physical activity motivator usually, but it does encourage regular longer walks quite well. Precovid the Community Day events were good for running into similar nerds too.
redambrosia
I mean, for Hubby and I it really just encouraged long drives, followed by short walks and bouts of standing still for a while.
WhiteWulfe
We still play on occasion, although I don't log in anywhere near as often as I used to.
lowlylowlycook
It's a lot harder to get motivated after they take away 4x catch xp and then give tepig a community day, that's for sure.
Cyradis
Yeah - I did enough to get a few shinies and went "good nuf". Not that into Tepig. I walked the pet lizard to the park, played a bit, went home. Otherwise just casually catching sitting at home.
lowlylowlycook
The return to a smaller distance to activate pokestops doesn't feel real good and in my small town leads to more of a need to cross roads or to walk a quarter block down a road then turn back. 2
Humansquish
Yeah the reduced distance is not good. I will be playing less for sure because of this. 1
Cyradis
The expanded range was good for so much beyond plague precautions. They really should consider putting that back in as a permanent feature. I'll still hit one from my office, and one from apartment, but even during raids I recall pre-covid issues with GPS wiggling you around and you could get booted from a raid for being out of range... when you weren't. The wider range helped mitigate that since GPS errors tended to be within it. 1
WhiteWulfe
It was also rather nice for when you go out for a walk that oh hey, that larger distance meant you could just walk, and you'd still hit a bunch of points.
lowlylowlycook
Well they put the larger radius for Pokestops back in so that's good. But I decided to post because I used the power of Oshawott community day to finally hit level 40. I was pretty unmotivated to do much before I noticed the xp bonus an that it wasn't super hard to get excellent throws. As usual I forgot to evolve any to get the special move. But now I kind of wish that lv 41 didn't exist.
