I'm torn.  I can't make a choice between my Rhino and my Ogre.  Two of my all time favorite models.

I'm glad to see my Wyvern making an appearance in the Core Set.   :bday:

You want to go with the Rhino. Cus then we may get the Tiger which is basically a Rhino so you will then get two!

Also, I really want Tigers in bonesium.

As much as I love Adon, I would argue that Tigers in Bonesium is the best possible outcome of this KS. In metal, they're the most expensive model in the line, even more than the Rhino (I'm excluding RL models and the Scorpion, which at $20 has something weird going on), and a beautiful sculpt to boot.

There's a Tiger in CAVBOSS' sig so that's a good sign right?  Also I think that's a Longbow on the right.

Metal CAVs going away has no reason to make me sad, but it sort of does.  Like an old friend moving away.

On that note. As of today the CAV models in metal (other than infantry) are no longer available. Going forward only the models produced in plastic will be available.

:blink:  ::o::unsure:::(:

So...anyone wanting to play an army other than Rach or Terran has to wait at least a year until they have any appreciable number of models to choose from? That's going to do wonders for drawing in new players <_<

Wait, wut?

I mean, I get the cost aspect, but how long until the entire line is Bonesium?

Edited to add: Will metal figures continue to be available through the Robot Supply Yard (or whatever it is called)?

Apoarently not! :-( I saw a note in the KS commets and immediately went to look! The BIG STOMPY ROBOT SUPPLY YARD IS EMPTY!

I get the economics as well, and I am all about the BONES CAV, but I have still been slowly picking up metal CAVs as well. Bummer.

So does this mean the Scorpion, Spider, Recluse, Dictator '60/A, Starhawk V, and Vanquisher A are gone forever?

I'm a big fan of the spider/scorpion CAVs, even going as far to build several versions of them, in various versions with the app Talon has available.

Update: I meant "several versions"

I'm glad I picked up the True Scale models when I did, though now I wish I'd got more. Edited by ladystorm

Yup, that's a Longbow. Uncropped original also has a few Chieftains in-frame.

Much as I like the bones price point and I understand the need for accessibility, I do wish that the metal was being kept around for display pieces. I have both and particularly for figures with long guns, the metal just looks straighter and sharper. Would I ever have bought a lot? No, that's too much cost. But having the option for a few leader or display pieces who's guns don't sag under hot light or in strong sun would be nice

Actually, having the ability to buy the long guns in metal would be an exellent compromise

I presume though that the problem with keeping metal around is the space issue.  Reaper needs to keep molds and shelf space open for what likely amounts to a handful of orders per year.  As much as I love the metal CAVs, I can't fault the decision either.  It doesn't pay to lose money (space is money) for sentimentality.

Wow - mixed feelings!

I think my only misgiving about the decision to 86 metal is that it takes a lot of units out of the game, but as CAVBOSS pointed out, the high price point really did the same thing - I want a well-rounded Templar army, but I'm not paying 200 bucks for it.  I do hope to see everything in plastic soon!
