Zombicide: Black Plague: Nelly, Samson and Silas

Recommended Posts

Just some base coats to get things rolling with these folks, nothing too noteworthy I think...

Mostly working out of the common colors in my workbench set of paints, though I did have to dig something up for Silas's cloak. Had to mix some green and browns up, ended up using that for the red to tame it a bit.

Ooh, those look pretty cool so far.  I like Nelly....  Wonder if I have her in my box!

You should: Nelly is one the base characters.

And Done!  Great Job!  Seriously can you be done?  They already look better than mine ^_^

Just kidding of course.  Can't wait to see the end result!

Off-topic, but have you thought of how to store your game?  I have the basic pledge + expansion, and some incoming crows and walkers, and I am kinda stumped how to store this beast.  I don't want Battlefoam (I chose not to patronize them based on principle).

Nope! I probably should. I don't quite have enough painted up yet to worry about it (they live in a Reaper pistol case currently). I would probably do battlefoam, though.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone!

Flesh tones today. As usual, the faces on these casts leave a lot to be desired. I didn't try too hard to get the eyes in on any of them...and I gave up completely on Samson. There's just nothing to paint even remotely symmetrically.

It is all looking so richly colored already !

Love you ability to control and contrast your colors Cash!

I am always striving to get that smooth color transition !

Note 1: Don't try to paint them was well as Cash.

Pfft, yours have been awesome!

Quick session, about an hour mostly focusing on greys/metals. Pretty close to wrapping up Samson, who was pretty simple, color-wise. Super messy, but they look good on the table.

Ugh, making such a mess of these. So rusty! Better to be screwing these up than an actual nice model, though.

Samson is more or less done, even with those crazy eyes. Did the white on Nelly, and man did my white mojo leave the building. Only did Silas' bow, so no pics (spoiler: it's awful).

They do look decent at a tabletop distance, which I guess is the point. Still, pretty humbling return to painting...

Fun fact! Like most zombicide minis, this sculpt was inspired by a fantasy character. In this case it is Isabeau from the movie Ladyhawke played by Michelle Pfeiffer.

I've painted this mini to be my new ranger named Michelle in my Rangers of Shadowdeep campaign. I had a lot of fun highlighting her dress. Hope you like her!

These teeny tiny butterflies from Wicked Elf are awesome!  They are super easy to use since they are vellum and not paper.  Nice and durable, easy to paint.  I was really pleased with how they came out for this project.

After a long wait, my Kickstarter pledge finally made it to my doorsteps. I know what you are thinking:
"Didn't you just move?" Yes, yes I did.
"You haven't finished Black Plague yet!" Also 100% correct - and at some point I will certainly finish it up, but the cult of the new calls!

Now on one hand, this project will be a little easier as the aliens will predominately be toned with a single color with the attention being paid to the little details on them. It won't be as intensive of a slog compared to painting individual outfits of clothing.

On the other, we have a bunch more specialty aliens and a slew more heroes to go through. Who knows if I will get around to painting them all! So this weekend's plan will be doing some prep work, priming and whatnot on a few of these.

As always, comments and critiques are welcome - I am here to learn. My goal for larger projects such as these is Tabletop "Plus" (not quite display, but a little above a standard base/wash/highlight) for the hero and big units, and tabletop standard for the rank-and-file units (totally fine with base coats + washes + a few details here and there). Ultimately these are game pieces that will be played, so I don't want to agonize over anything getting messed up too badly.
