So I have decided to try and paint a mini from all of the new (To me anyways) companies I have been discovering through Kickstarter or being (grumble) enabled...

Since Her Darkness is almost done, I decided to assemble and prime up a Bombshell mini from the last Kickstarter, and since I am currently playing in the Pathfinder campaign 'Reign of Winter', the choice was pretty easy as to which one....

so Here she is!

I am thinking light greys, teal, and blues....

I am thinking some sort of sea shore base....

And so the painting has begun.....

Eyes are my normal GW Scorched Brown, MSP Linen White, with a GW Scaley Green pupil this time

Pink Flesh for the skin...

GW Scaley Green for her robes, and Bering Blue for her cloak

I have been debating mixing some Vallejo Metal Medium into the cloak colors, and then doing the edging in non metallic colors...

Any thoughts on this idea?

As always, Comments and Critiques Welcome!

Some more Bering Blue on the cloak...

I am trying an experiment...

I mixed some Vallejo Metal Medium into the Deep Blue forthe whatever they are called...Streamers, and the neck of her cloak.

I want it to kindo of shimmer, not look flat out metallic....

We will see how it goes...

I would never have thought to use a metal medium on cloth, looks good.

Curious to see how this works out, I want to paint a 70's style disco glittery shirt on a mini one day...you might have just showed me how to do that.

Nice colors.

I notice some debris in your paint on her left side (staff side).  Some spots on the leg above the knee and on both inner surfaces of the cloak.  Might want to clean that up and repaint before you get any farther along.

she decided that she needed a bath.....

So she is bathing with Garrick the Bold....

Metal of course... and it's purely platonic...

Moar Paint!

Her 'streamers?' that go with the high neck of her cloak got done with Deep Blue, mixed with a touch of Vallejo Metal Medium. The effect I want to achieve is of a silk or satin with this, not a metallic sheen...

We will see...

Her leg armor and the tassets on her hips, as well as the 'belt buckle?' were done with F&G Huldra Blue, and her tabbard with F&G Miskatonic Grey.

Platinum Blonde?

I would go with the Reaper Blond Hair Triad, but then start with the mid tone, then the highlight and final highlight mix it with a pure white?

or maybe Scale 75 Sol Yellow and then start mixing it with Pure White?

I agree. I've done platinum hair exactly that way, and it's come out pretty good. It can be tricky to mix the highlight, but knarthex, I think you've got the painting chops to make it work. :)

Finished my first mini this year, and oddly enough it was a speedpaint, taking just over an hour...

On the flipside, some of those colours work together really, REALLY well, like Sunrise Orange and Heart Throb Paint.

Due to Brain Weasels and other Real Life Issues, I haven't been doing much, really almost no, fantasy painting...
One of the things I have been doing is looking at old WIPs, and suddenly the desire to paint a DRAGON, came over me....
So here is the start of my new work on Cinder, #10014, in METAL...
Hopefully, I can keep up the sudden burst of enthusiasm....
So planning on mold line hunting, and trying to decide what color to paint this dragon...
As I am old school, the webbing between the back spines is leading me to green, but need to check the books to see which way to go....
About time you returned from the place I couldn't reach you minion......

The Al Fasid, also known as "The Corrupted", are HaqqIslam's heavy troopers that will get the job done no matter the cost.  Their methods aren't always the prettiest, and they're never the stealthiest, and they have their own tricks they bring with them to the table.  They don't care about glory, and are solely chosen for their solid record of getting the job done.  Some enjoy it, some are in it for the solid paycheque, and others do it because the only thing theyy know what to do is fight.  Today I have the HMG version, who also conveniently carries a grenade launcher that can shoot either regular grenades to keep enemy heads down, or smoke grenades to provide additional cover.  Oh, they also pack anti-personnel mines with them too...

Since the "tactical rock" under his right foot kind of looked rather strikingly like the backpack for a Yu Jing (even though I'm not having any luck finding models to confirm this), I decided to try and test out my planned colour scheme for them.  That's right, I'll be going with a dark raver / cyberpunk burnt neon pink for their general colour, because why not - I'm going with hot orange for my Haqq...

Please see the main post here for rules, questions and general chatter, while using this thread to keep a list of links to your show-offs or show-off related comments in a single post: A reminder to please adhere to miniatures posting guidelines as usual.
All the information you need should be here.

As a change of pace from the Hard Mode Challenge, this round will have a Skill Challenge.

      May and June 2019 Challenge

      Your challenge is: 9!

      Bonus Challenge: The First!
"Mayday!" is an international distress signal used in verbal communication in ships and aircraft.  Your first bonus challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to paint a miniature in some distress.  This could be a diorama, an adventurer falling into a trap, villian whose weapon just broke, or anything else your mind can conjure.

      Bonus Challenge: The Second!
The Solstices: June marks the beginning of Summer in the Northern Hemisphere and Winter in the Southern Hemisphere.  Paint a miniature or a pair of miniatures showcasing this duality.

      Skill Challenge: OSL
Try your hand at painting a miniature using OSL or Object-Source Lighting.  If you feel like this is something that is already in your wheelhouse, work on your technical skills in another area.  Practice NMM, TMM, wet-blending, sculpting, or anything else you've been meaning to try.

As always, the game is made up and the points don't matter!
