CAVSO KS2 Model-Faction-Task Distribution Worksheet

Recommended Posts

Some of you may remember the worksheet I created during the first Kickstarter. As someone new to CAV, I made it to help myself understand a little about force construction and to plan my purchases in the Pledge Manager. It helped me a lot and some others also seemed to benefit as well.

I have been working on revising the sheet for CAV: Strike Operations II. I am not 100% confident that there aren't mistakes but I'm putting it out there for review. As always, error reporting is really helpful and constructive criticism is welcome.

A few notes:

  • The Colors on the model list are irrelevant at this point. Those are remnants from the first Kickstarter.
  • DT and TV are completely off after revisions to the game. If Cavboss has a new list or if anybody else would care to help with editing, those can be fixed.
  • The "Force and Squad Construction" tab only pertains to models from the 1st Kickstarter. There is already an official CAV: SO force construction program so I'm not sure if I need to do more here but if experienced players would like to submit their forces using the new models, I will consider adding to that tab.
  • This file was designed in Excel and should probably be viewed in Excel. Google viewer is only passable and I've heard that the layout and many of the advanced functions just aren't right in OpenOffice. Download the file and open it in Excel if you can.

**One important chance from the original file: Add models in sets of 2 or 4 by putting a "1" in the options column.**

Update: August 11th, 2016 (08:31 JST)

  • Updated as far as I can until we receive an updated Model List with the new models
  • Reworked model highlight Colors to signify models introduced in KS1 (Light Blue), KS2 (Tan) or offered in both (Light Purple)
  • Added "The Almirithil Principality" as its own faction
  • Seperated Wisper and Ripper to "Faction: other" and changed task to "Specialist"
  • Added a "Specialist" Category to the "Total Forces" tally (i.e. the number of models in your order)
  • Removed dead links to metal and added links to Bonesium versions on Reaper Store
  • Fixed "SA: Bulky" changes based on Data Card List

Future updates:

  • Add DT and TV for all models (waiting on a new Model List)

***For those using this worksheet and updating as we new models are introduced, beware***

You can copy and paste the columns from your older worksheet. Just be aware of new models being introduced during this Kickstarter. You need to copy everything up to the new model from your old worksheet and paste it into the new one. Then copy the remaining numbers from your old worksheet and paste it just after the new model in the new worksheet. I will try to list all changes to the structure below to make it easier for you.

  • Javelin from The Adon Economic Confederation ($32k stretch goal)

Yup, I love getting new models but it's a pain for me to add them to the worksheet. I have asked CAVBOSS for an up-to-date model list so I can do it once and not make it a task everytime something new is introduced. He said they are working on it and would hit me up when he can but I have a feeling he wants to keep certain things secret until they are revealed. We will see.

I have added a short description in the top post to help deal with the problem. Cutting and pasting around the new models will work for now but I suspect that there will be a major change to the model list at some point.

Not complaining. Er, ok, I was complaining, but its not your fault. I'm not even going to blame CAVBOSS as I am extreemly happy to be getting MOAR BIG STOMPY ROBOTS!!!!

Really! I mean I've been vascilating between Terran and Independant for a faction but couldn't decide. And then the book came out and I saw the Almar . . Alamar . . Amlar . . <ung> The Principality and ended up in a three way vascilisitude! Now we finally see a few of the Amlira . . Alimar . . Armila . . <ung> Principality CAVs!! Suddenly thing are becoming much clearer!!

Also, the CAVs now called the Growler and the Bear used to be called the Cobra and the King Cobra in the data cards/force manager. The CAVs formerly known as the Growler and the Bear are getting new names.

We should have that part up this weekend. The CP took longer to finish with some changes we made in it and seem to be on track finally to finish it today.

We will also be hosting a weekend of virtual content focused on CAV: Strike Operations!

As many of you already know, we had to cancel CAV-CON 2020 this year (and skip the rest of the shows we attend through the year). So rather than sit around and mope through that weekend, we have decided to live stream the whole weekend on Twitch and Discord.
We will also be sharing content on our FB, Twitter, and Instagram accounts!
We plan to spend the weekend playing CAV, talking, Playing CAV, painting, Playing CAV! Starting Sept 4th at 12 noon (CST) and going each day till we can't go any further!
We will have hourly prize giveaways (limit one per guest) featuring t-shirts, paints, minis, and anything else we choose to throw out there!
We hope to have a few guests dropping by to chat while James "Maddog" Meredith will be here to test his mettle vs CAVBoss as we throw a few dice using the new campaign system! Between now and showtime, we will be sharing our progress on getting our units ready to fight!
I'm sure it will be chaos, but it will be a lot of fun, so I hope to see you drop by! CB

Brief word of introduction. I know next to nil about CAV. My current interest in it is solely from a painting perspective. With that in mind, please excuse any blunders I make.

So, I'm a painter looking for some cool stuff to paint. I see CAV's mechs. I think "I like mechs, those look cool, I think I'll grab some". Then my eyes flicker upwards towards where it says "10mm scale". I think you can see where this is going.

Long story short, how big are these? It looks like they come on 1" hexes, and $4.99-$6.99 is quite a lot to charge for a small mini (in my opinion, of course).

      Many thanks, all!

I had painted a flail as a test model, and then decided to do a group since it was an easy color scheme.
had too many tags, but it's a pillager, wolverine, flail, outlaw, and poltergeist

So I finally fell into the temptation and got my first ground based sci fi minis!(I do have spaceships.)
A Cataphract, conquerer , and a halberd by Reaper minis came in with my horsman today! Sadly the halberd is missing a piece so it may in end up being returned.
So my first order of business was a small conversion to the cataphract
      Before conversion

And the conquerer has donated the necessary parts for said conversion, specifically his smaller missile pods.

A bit of work with an exacto knife removed said weapons.

And a bit more exacto work to make a spot for the pods on the Cataphract.

Some super glue to assemble the cataphract and voila! It is time for paint!

And don’t worry about the Conquerer, I have a conversion in mind for it too. It just might not be a true mech when I’m done.......

More sci-fi stuff to come soon I hope!
And maybe just maybe I’ll try to make a backstory for these guys.
      Thankyou for looking!
