There's a few sayings about windows...

At one time the PDA, PC and Server OSes were:

CE Me NT...

No wonder why they ran slow...

Another is:

Hiroshima 45,

Chernobyl 86

Windows 95...

The Codename for Windows Vista was 'Longhorn'...

Why did they name it after a French Pre-WWI aeroplane with pusher prop?

Sure, the Norwegian Army Air Service had 4, so it's a nice nod to those braves, but...

A Longhorn flown by the Japanese was the first documented plane to be shot down by another plane.

Also, Windows 1 through 3.1 are not OSes, only user interfaces running on top of DOS.

Kill Windows ME, please. You all thought that Vista had compatibility problems; ME didn't even work with programs written SPECIFICALLY FOR it, and lord help you if you had to try to find drivers, or tried to upgrade any piece of your PC, or even looked at it wrong. PC manufacturers should have made every piece of any machine "running" ME out of magnesium so that al least you could kill it with fire.

ME was much much much worse than Vista. At least Vista mostly worked.

True story: every machine I had control over that came with ME was, in short order, upgraded to Windows 98SE (and later XP).

Am I doing this right:

MS-DOS: 10

Windows 1: 10

Windows 2: 10

Windows 3.0: 10

Windows 3.1: 10

Windows NT: 10

Windows 95: 10

Windows XP: 10

Windows Vista: 10

Windows 7: 10

Windows 8: 10

Windows 8.1: 10

Windows 10: 10

I would say: no you're not.

Starting with your first vote/post each entry for each OS became buried in code tags for a non-default font and text color. This makes finding the number to change extraordinarily annoying if viewed on the mobile interface, (phones or pads). Ugh.

Anyway, I also say:

UNIX/Linux: FF

+1 for Win98SE. I've been using computers since the mid 70s, but began thinking about them for a career in the mid 90s. The early Windows 9x series is where I cut my admin teeth, and 98SE was the pinnacle of that branch.

I think a lot of the hate for Vista over ME is an age thing, or people who didn't have ME :)
