Is the melt table at the con, or the factory?

 

Is there a schedule for the factory tours?

 

I want to take classes, but I don't want to miss those 2 things.......

At the Con

Yes, they put out a schedule closer to the Con - last year I believe it was like every 2 hours they had a shuttle going to/from, so you shouldn't really have a problem even with 6 or 7 classes.

 

I still tell people (especially first timers) to pace themselves with classes. I took 6 last time, felt like I didn't get to do half of what I wanted to do. This year is 3-4 classes so I have more time with friends, with artists/sculptors, to shop, to visit the factory (which I didn't get to do), and to play in games.

 

Really, you'd think that 4 days would be enough to do all of this and take a bunch of classes, but TIME FLIES by there and it's a whirlwind of awesome.

Hmm, I definitely want to take this class. I've got two Kickstarters coming up, it's easy enough to delay them till after ReaperCon.

This year it was either going to be GenCon (i've never been) or ReaperCon (also never been).

 

I think I made the right choice!

 

I heartily endorse GenCon as a gaming experience like no other, but yeah, ReaperCon is pretty amazing.

Hmmm.  There are 36 classes I want to sit in on (with some duplications for scheduling flexibility) after my first read-through.  Narrowing that list down to the required limit is going to be so hard . . .  Can I send my video recorder in to a few classes if I buy it some tickets?

While I fully recognize that you used sarcasm colors, I do think it is important that I say this so as not to confuse first-timers.

 

Because we charge for the experience, we do not allow recording devices in the classrooms. We might make exceptions in specific circumstances (for specific disabilities, etc.), please ask if you believe your situation warrants an exception. Please refer to Rule #13 in the preceding link.

Some of the class descriptions suggest 'Note Taking Devices', I took this to mean that a pocket memo recorder was ok for a class that you have paid for. (And for personal use only!)

How Not To Suck : This (absolutely painful) class will cover <enough material to make you realize that, no, you really don't want to do this hobby after all>. Students should bring <their own change of undershorts>; all other supplies will be provided. <DO NOT FEED INSTRUCTOR.> (But seriously: This beginner class will cover everything from miniature prep and materials through techniques such as layering. Students should bring note-taking devices!)

Does Rule 13 above mean this is incorrect?

If so, I would modify the descriptions so as not to confuse other first timers like myself.

And just for clarity, if your instructor makes an exception for you, personally, after you discuss this with them privately and in a non-confrontational manner, because they are trying to accommodate a medical disability, that's one thing. But out of respect for other students, note-taking devices should be limited to writing devices (pen, pencil, crayon, reed stylus, watercolor, brush, tablet, etc.) and writing surfaces (paper, slate, miniature, papyrus, clay tablet, rosetta stone, scroll, etched skulls of your enemies, mobile device, etc.), and not devices that make audio or video recordings. 

 

Again, if you have a medical need, and can approach your instructor respectfully and privately (no, seriously, I mean privately, because we all know that just asking when there's people around creates a pressure situation where the instructor must choose between being a jerk who says no or suddenly having everyone around think it's ok), we will do everything we can to accommodate you. But outside of that, we do not allow audio or visual recording in the classrooms.
