ALPHA a portable gaming table.

This really has me interested. I always want a table that I can work with, and a 4x6 portable table is an awesome idea. My only concern with the table is that it is made with mdf, but the idea is solid and I think. If it's glossy mdf, it could be sealed (I asked to make sure, will reply in this thread if the answer is yes). I think it's a great idea and, for those of us with little space, it's a great solution.

And they are showing their water test in an update.

The MDF is treated so that water does not permeate easily. I left the prototype out in the rain for an hour and had no issues. We are building this with indoor and outdoor specs.

Hey never mind... about to post a water test on the updates section.

Hope you enjoy.

Between you and I though, spilling beer on game terrain automatically decreases all savings throws for a round.

I can't help but to think this is a rebranded Chinese made product.

Moslty because of the exact same pictures from a product found on Amazon.

Now that being said, he keeps talking about 4"x6", and the one on Amazon is 31" wide, so maybe he *is* designing a new product, but the lack of any real information or full view of the table isn't exactly filling me with confidence here.

The only added value would be the paint job, and it's a pretty heft price hike.

And anyone outside of the US will be stuck with very high shipping charges.

P.S. Hmm just realized I'm posting a commercial link, which is a no-no.

Wow, that really does look like the same table.  Maybe he is getting the manufacturer of the table on Amazon to produce a version with an increased width.

It's possible since the "Risks and challenges" section does mention that the tables will be made abroad.

But right now, it looks like this still isn't done. Even the design still isn't finalized and already he backed down on the idea of the table being able to go half-size. *And* he expects the first shipments will be this October.

Either he's is completely oblivious of all the expectations that come from Kickstarter, how to market a new product, and everything it takes to manufacture and ship it, or he's a fraud. But as it stands, I cannot support the project in its current form.

I had not seen the one on Amazon.  This makes me sad, because it really is the same appearance.  Adding a few inches, regardless, wouldn't warrant being $50 more vs. amazon.  Sure, if it's a new product, great.  If it's just a retool of the Amazon one, I'll be forced to pass (sad face).

I'd go further and say not only is it the same table, but the exact same pictures are being used. You can even see the same spot where the person erasing the background took out part of the leg.

The $50 more doesn't bother me because he is adding 17" in width and some inches in height. For a smaller production run, that feels within an acceptable range. However, his "I know nothing about the table on Amazon, and I designed this table" reply to my question of the similarity is a huge red flag for me.
