styates
UPDATES!! Live Draft Draft Time: Saturday, September 3, 10am Central Time 10 Teams Still haven't heard from Brian, so I'm going to call it. 4 Keepers, Max 3 years Unless anybody has any objections, we'll go with 4 keepers. You can have a player on your team for a maximum of 3 years (so each player can be kept twice). NFL Draft Order Since we're still incorporating a Keeper system, I think that Worst to First is the best way to go for the Draft. I would like to propose that the teams in the losers bracket (teams 9 & 10) actually play for the #1 pick, meaning that the WINNER of their 3 week clash gets #1 instead of the loser as has happened traditionally. This keeps a bit of competitive fire going down there rather than one team tanking it for the first pick the next season. That's all that I've got. If anybody has any problems/concerns, make your opinions known soon. We kind of got this started late this year (which is on me) so there isn't much time to make a bunch of changes. I'm going to run with this for now and if we need to make more changes, I can. Stefan
Heisler
So are we keeping players from our rosters from last year? I'm not sure how teams are going to play off against each other for the #1 pick. Are you suggesting that it would have been the "winner" between #9 and #10 from the playoffs get that #1 pick? I wasn't clever enough to record what players were on my roster from last year. I only remember that I had Rodgers and Cobb
styates
Question #1: Yes, I'll put last year's rosters into effect. Question #2: Yes, since we do reverse order, teams #9 and #10 don't make the actual playoff but still play each other for three weeks in a row. I am suggesting that whomever takes 2 of 3 or better between them gets the #1 pick. Question #3: Rosters are in place. Just click "Select Keepers" and pick up to four that you want. Keepers lock 1 hour before the draft. If you don't select keepers or choose to keep less than 4, that's your decision to make, you'll just finish filling your roster once everyone else is done. styates
LAST POST EDITED TO REFLECT UPDATED KEEPER INFO. Also, pared the league down to just two divisions: Legends and Warlords. Teams were randomly assigned to a division (using a D20, of course!) Edited August 11, 2016 by styates
styates
One more question: Does this season count as year one or year two for keepers?
Heisler
I'm thinking that this would be year 2 since they have already been on teams for a year.
haldir
Thou each player only counts as 1 pt. If we go by this being 2nd year in keepers then we'd have to get rid of them after 2 years & only using 3 pts out of the 4 we usually have?? That doesn't make sense, at least to me anyways. I've started to pair my team down to four players. Just can't decide on the final four (reason why there was some activity in the league). Also totally understand the final spot battle for 3 weeks at the end. In Stefan's other league I'm in with him, I was paired with someone who obviously was a bigger Chiefs fan then Stefan. Anyways, I knew he wasn't active & we were both out of that playoffs in that one but I didn't want to lose to this guy at any time last season. I kept working my team like I was still playoff active. It was fun & interesting. Heck I wanna say I may even been the top scorer those last couple weeks of the playoffs as I was racking up big point totals with my pickups & such. I knew thou that the guy would cap at a certain point (what happens when you ohh put 1 team in almost every spot!!! ) but I didn't care. Again, it was fun. styates
Not sure what you mean, Randy. The way that I see it, normally we draft a player and get to keep him twice (for a total of 3 years). So, what Heisler is saying is that anybody we keep this year will have already been on our team for a year so in essence, we would only get to keep them two more times. The other option is to pretend that this year is year one since we're just starting this, so we'd still get two more keeps. Oh, and if you want to drop go ahead, but you don't have to drop anyone if you don't want to, either way just remember to click "Select Keepers" at some point and check the four that you want to keep or the system will dump your roster just before draft time. haldir
Ok it makes sense now, I was counting the year we draft that player as a non year. I'm good to go!
Heisler
I was trying to figure out the draft order, this is how I think it turned out on paper: 1) Ritterlich Tigers 2) Pillagers Plunderers 3) Groo & the Wanderers 4) Colorado Stouts 5) Best Available Players 6) The Mystery Men 7) Burnham Blood 8) Florin Brute Squad 9) Fabulous Freebirds 10) Midvale School for the Gifted I'm just trying to figure out how we do this playoff between Ritterlich and the Pillagers
haldir
Isn't the playoff for next year's #1? When we go to playoffs the last 2 teams who are not in the active playoff will play each other the weeks of the playoffs. The "winner" of that is the #1 seed? That is how I'm reading that. styates
Yes, Randy is correct. Traditionally, we would just go in the worst to first order (and I think that we'll keep that for this year) but I would like to see the #9 and #10 teams actually have something to play for by making their 3-week matchup be a winner take all for the #1 pick. styates
If we use last season as an example, there were 4 teams in the losers bracket (since we started with 12), using the old system the Muffin Isle Muffins (no longer in the league) would have had the #1 pick by default of getting annihilated for 3 straight weeks of the playoffs. Pillagers Plunderers on the other hand won two of the last three games (beating me in the final week) to earn the top spot of the losers bracket and by the proposed system would then have earned the #1 overall pick. styates
It's been pointed out that the system will actually let you add players to your team right now. Please don't do this!! You can drop players if you want to, but you don't have to as the system will purge all but the players that you marked as keepers prior to the draft. I will be clearing any players that weren't on your roster at the end of last season myself if I see them on there. Thanks for understanding! Stefan How else am I supposed to get good people on my team? Obviously having all the #1 draft picks doesn't help. I'll let Justin & Travis know of the draft date and new rules tonight.
