We're BOTH crazy! OneBoot and Buglips paint Khanjira in 7 days: WIP thread!

After several interruptions, finally done with all of the linering!

 

 

I realize I'm the last to get to this point, but I would like to point out two things: 1) I knew from the start that I'd be the last one out of the gate, and 2) I may not be a hare, but let's just remember who won THAT particular race, shall we? 

 

Going to take care of a couple of the most obvious mold lines, then tackle his skin.

Painted some of the plates with a mix of old pro paint shield brown and pro paint armor grey.  Looks okay.

The goblin continues to slop away at his Khanjira, but the Booted Kittah has made some drastic slopping of her own!

Ol' Jerry's not looking nearly so feisty now that I've carved him up a bit:

 

 

Ugh, mold lines everywhere. And they're all slantways and weirdways and crossways and sideways, with a little mold slippage thrown in for good measure. Most of the work was on his arms, and I just skimmed over the rest of him for any obvious ones. Anything I missed I'm not gonna bother with.

 

Gonna touch up the liner real quick, then it's on to the skin basecoat of either Violet Shadow or Clear Purple; not sure which will work best for what I have in mind, so I'll try both.

 

Not going to make nearly as much headway today as I'd planned; MrBoot needed me a lot today, he's going through a bit of a rough patch right now. Tomorrow is not looking good either, since I've got an appointment in the afternoon, spending time with husband in the evening, and my morning disappeared when I got shanghaied into helping a good friend move suddenly. So I'll get as much done tonight as I can, and see what I can reasonably accomplish tomorrow night. 

 

This might not look like a great start, but, given that I'm currently covered with little bits of my enemy that I carved off with a sharp knife, I'm not too worried about conquering this guy.

Clear Purple was the clear winner, and the empurpling is now finished!

 

 

Now, before anyone starts cracking jokes, no, his name is not Barney. It's Jerry. Barney is a distant cousin, and Jerry would rather not talk about that branch of his family. They're a bit, erm...peculiar. 

 

The reason Jerry's head looks like Two Face is because as I was slopping Clear Purple on it, I started to realize that it wasn't the same texture as the rest of the skin. In fact, I think the sculptor may have intended it to be a sort of bony skull plate (I say may, because there's an annoying amount of guesswork trying to decipher which bits are what on this figure  ). Another clue was that when I stuck the horns in, there's a smooth transition between them and the skull, rather than an abrupt change from skin texture to horn.

 

 

I haven't decided yet whether to paint the skull up as skin, or the same color as the other bony plates on him (which will be teal ). Here's a side-by-side of approximately how each would look.

 

Skull would be painted up teal to match the chest plates:

 

 

Skull would be painted up as purple skin:

 

I'll leave it as-is for now and contemplate which one I want to do.

 

Going to probably get a fair amount of the armor plates basecoated before calling it a night (er, morning....). Bright Turquoise is the paint of choice for this part.

A GREEN PAINT IS APPLIED!!!!

 

Who could expect the Goblin to use Green???

Jerry is now sporting a fine teal waistcoat! I'm loving this HD Bright Turquoise, it's so beautifully smooth and opaque and pretty and !

 

 

I also put a dab of the Bright Turquoise on his face to see how it would look teal as well; I'm leaning toward keeping it purple, I think that would be too much teal in one area.

 

 

And I managed the plates on his legs as well. I also wanted to get to his arms, but my brush control has now deteriorated to the point that I think that would be unwise. 

 

Here he is up to now, and looking pretty groovy:

 

And with that, I'm off to bed; the fight shall continue tomorrow, but I'm feeling confident I won this round against Jerry.

Wow, awesome progress on the first evening/night!

Not only is this fun to watch but it might help me decide what colours to  use on my Khanjiras, err, Khanjiri?
