Kingdom Death Sci-Fi Twilight Knight Pinup

Recommended Posts

Cleaned, primed and based. Ready for paint! This one should stay SFW, if I do add a tiny bit of color to the forbidden spots, I'll do it at the end of the project :)

I did learn one thing about CMoN's plastic bases, they're not the 'good' model plastic that melts with model cement (as KD's plastic does). So I needed to break out the superglue and will keep fingers crossed she stays put. I may need to pin her if she breaks loose, and I hate pinning high heels! One upside to the failed model cement experiment: I pushed her down pretty hard, so her feet conformed a bit better to the base.

I have that one too...

Very curious to see what you'll do with her so I can learn...

Ugh, the hips on that sculpt. It's fun to paint tho'. I left the cloak off, since I could make it make sense. Looking at yours, kinda wish I'd made more of an effort. Good luck on all the skin blending. :)

Ugh, the hips on that sculpt.

That's what's inspiring the palette, actually. Might be a week or two before I get to it, but it should be a wild one.

I love the hips on this one. It's the top half that's messing with me haha!

I'm curious to see what colors you come up with ::D:

The size of the hips isn't the problem, it's that the legs are the same length even tho' she's got her right hip jutting out at a coquettish angle. It's just not quite right.

I have a couple other KD figures and they look great. There was something about this one that I didn't quite like.

I'm interested to see what colors Cash chooses. I have another copy of this figure, having painted one for a friend. Looking for inspiration.

No, if you follow the pelvic line from GT to GT, the left side is low enough to allow for that. The hips are wide enough to have quite a distance, heh. It's not really as cartoony as people make it out to be.

I was trying to work out a color scheme. I had a decent idea and gamut masked it out, but I wanted to see it in action, so I did a quick mock-up in GIMP using the photo of the primed mini.

like most it... just not sold on the pink sword.

Not ORANGE enough for ya:huh:  ::P:

hummmm now there's a color that just might WORK!    fits right in with her skin tone!   I never would have thought of that!

Orange is the 3rd point of the gamut mask. Hmm. I like the pink sword (since the glows are all pink), but orange might work, too.

For those confused: this is not a painted mini, I digitally painted it with a small translucent brush in GIMP. Great for quickly looking at colors. If you split layers out (hair is layer 1, clothes layer 2 etc) you can really go nuts once you finish.

I'll post some pics of that tomorrow, though I liked how it looked so I stopped layering and dumped most of it into a single layer, woops!

A little while ago, I got a full set of metallic paints in vibrant primary colors.  I immediately felt like there was huge potential to this- you could use them to add all sorts of extra depth and interest to True Metallic techniques.
And one of the things that struck me was the idea that you could use them for feathers.  With many birds, feathers already have a sort of metallic shine to them, so it isn't too crazy to consider using true metallic techniques to express this.
While I initial was afraid that it would be hard to keep the phoenix from looking inanimate -like a bronze statue of a bird, rather than a bird.  To my surprise, I didn't have to do a lot of corrections for this, since the mini really never was in much danger of looking too inorganic.

Presenting the Rawhide Dame, she's a pin-up from Kingdom Death.

Not some of my best work, I made a bit of a mess painting her skin, but overall I don't think she's too bad.

This is a great set of pewter miniature witches that fit well in any 28mm heroic to 32mm fantasy miniature range. The witches are done in a pin up style with plenty of personality, and are ready cast their spells and curses on the gaming table.
As soon as the campaign ends production and delivery of the miniatures will commence. The goal is to have the miniatures in your hands within a month of the campaign ending.
Picture is to show witch miniature scale comparison between two REAPER miniatures. Risks and challenges
Little risk other than small mail delivery delays from the postal services. The miniatures are ready to be cast.

Presenting the Leather Queen, a Pin-up version of the Leather Armoured Survivors from Kingdom Death, hopefully she's wearing just enough to not need a nudity link.

I'm pretty out of practice painting Pin-ups so she's a little rough around the edges, and I never could figure out a way to make her hair look like hair, but at least it's another one finally finished.

"During the opening stages of the Great War, it was quickly discovered that the human mind was too fragile for soldiers to spend any time in areas that had been heavily corrupted by Void Space.
One of the solutions to this problem was to lift the restrictions on deploying Automaton Troopers to the front-lines. Drawing power from naturally occurring energy fields and equipped with self repair and competent AI systems, they could theoretically operate indefinitely without contact with their human creators.
However, despite being deployed in large numbers, in the end they did little to halt the advance of the Void.

Centuries later, many can still be found and most pose a threat to the humans they once served.
This particular model, now known as a Flower Knight due to the flora it spontaneously generates around itself, is not openly hostile to anyone it comes across but will not tolerate any damage to the gardens they both create and guard."

Presenting the Flower Knight from Kingdom Death.

This is another one from the Cupboard of Unfinished ThingsTM that's been waiting for me to bring it back to the table for a final painting session or two. It's not a patch on the many, many other Flower Knights out there on the Inter-webs, but I'm really pleased with it.
