Never have heard that BB tune before playing SR's link. So... I can't help with whether you are alone in this. I give 95% of official movie trailers a miss, much less any with doctored sound tracks.

this is like the first one I've seen. But I don't care for movies much so I don't watch trailers hardly at all.  One more trend that has almost entirely flown right by me without my notice I guess.

Interesting.  I am seeing different sources claiming each one.  At this point, I have no idea, except it will not be John Williams.

Aha!  Found one that lists the reason.  Desplat was the original composer, but because of reshoots and scheduling, he could not be available and was replaced with Michael Giacchino... in... September 15th?!?  Holy cow that is cutting it close....

 

Edit: Or possibly it was done before then but released to the public on the 15th of September... still...

I'm not sure it will even feel like a Star Wars movie without it.

Actually, I'm kind of ok with it.  It differentiates it from the primary sequence.  Also, I've watched so many trailers for Star Wars games as a starting point to beginning a story and they don't have the crawl, so I think they broke us into it fairly gently without us realizing it.  Now... if Episode Eight doesn't have it, I'll be a bit less understanding.
