Two down, four? to go. The elf and fairy are done while the vampire has been started and I would say is 70% done. I also have been doing base work but forgot to take pictures. I poured the resin for the fairy's and is seems to have set with no leaks, so yeah! No frontal pictures of the fairy right now but I will try to get one up tomorrow.

Very good progress!

Also, congrats on your successful resin/basing work.

Thanks, just keep your fingers crossed that the resin actually set. I won't know for sure until tomorrow.

Thank! I wish I had time to paint him but he will have to wait. He was part of the package containing the two for my diorama and I have not put him away yet so he has been supervising.

Those mini's are looking great. Love the blue you have going on the last photo.

Thanks! Surprisingly there is little actual blue in it. It is Icy Violet shaded with Royal Purple and highlighted with True Blue. I am finding that I like to play with colors like this.

Alright, here is the front picture (link due to nudity) of the fairy. I painted the ribbon in her hair as a vine and added a couple of flowers and some leaves. I should have left the flowers off and just used leaves. I am not happy with them but it is too late now. The flowers are from a railroad garden kit and are not sculpted by me.

maybe if you think of the flowers as berry clusters it won't annoy you as much.

I think it looks great.

Berry clusters work, probably due to the colors. Thanks!

Ok, no pictures at this point, I might take some later tonight. I have finished the skin and pants on the toad. I also completed the leather, including the whip, and hair of the vampire. Good news is the resin fully set for the fairy's base and it has been sanded and sealed. I added little bit of white to the flowers in her hair and they look a lot better. I also added a few of them to the base to tie things together and added the willow foilage. Except for blackening the plinth and a few corrections, her base is done.

Here is my checklist, I have included the names for the pieces but I do not have one for the vampire and have not settled on one for the elf. If you have any suggestions for them or replacements for the others, feel free to chime in.

Vampire: "???????"

- Boots

- Metallics

Base

- Mushrooms

- Skulls

- Dirt

- Foilage

Elf: "Forest Eternal" or "Forest's Return"

- Done

Base

- Mushrooms

- Tree

- Skull

- Dirt

- Foilage

Mouslings: "The Hunt"

- Leather

- Green Cloak

- Wood/Acorn

- Metallics

- Spider

Base

- Finish Stone

- Dirt

- Foilage

- Web?

Cat/Toad: "The Bridge"

- Leather

- Metallics

- Wood

- Eyes

Base

- Finish Stone

- Dirt

- Sign

- Treasure

- Water

- Foilage

Kabuki Hunter: "The Hunter"

- Leather

- Axe handle

- Metallics

- Hair and eyes

Base

- Add dirt

- Everthing

Fairy: "The Blue Fairy"

DONE!!!

It may seem like a lot but in reality most of the big stuff is done. This is just little stuff here and there that should not take too long. The biggest thing left is probably the metallics and not waiting until the last minute to do the water under the bridge. I will be using Secret Weapon's water effects not resin as it is a shallow pour. If I had finished painting that part of the base before I did the fairy's water, I would have used the left over resin from that. Unfortunately I thought of it right after I finished mixing the resin.

Ok, lengthy picture update with few words. Any feedback and name suggestions would be most welcome.

Spider is done:

Grey Mousling, why did I never paint Mouslings before, they are too much fun:

The red hunter with her rope bag of orc heads. I love how the red turned out:

The vampire that is turning out to be my favorite. Still surprised the whip worked out:

lovely,   I suspect your not done so ignore my suggestions ...  Toad's leather needs some highlights as well as the tummy on the mousling.

The Vampire is the best of the lot but I think the mousling is giving her a bit of a run for the top spot.

I recently painted this fertility idol from Bones 4. Just for fun.

Technically they are stone statue boobies, but boobies are boobies.

So I've been poking at this diorama idea for a couple of years, and it's morphed a bit since I first started it, but I'm thinking that I'm nearing the final composition. But... I'm beginning to second guess myself.

So, do you think this tells a good/clear story?
Should I remove the adventurers from their bases, or paint the bases to match the floor?

      Any and all thoughts welcome!

      UPDATED 8/17/19
So I will be running the Hobby Hijinx corner at ReaperCon again this year. If you are not familiar with the corner, it is where Reaper offers free 1-2 hour paint and take events. We have the classic Paint 'N Take area as always, as well as the Sophie Says, traditional Speedpaints and the new Paint by Die Roll and Bones Mashup.

I will be updating this post as details are firmed up.

If anyone has any ideas for the current events or new events, please post them here.

If you would like to volunteer to help in the Hobby Hijinx corner, please send me a PM with the days and times you would like to help and if you would like to be a helper or coordinator. Coordinators will be responsible for running individual events (all the supplies will be there) Helpers will assist coordinators. I will be the default coordinator for any event that doesn't have a volunteer

      Sophie Says
A fun cross of Simon Says and Speed Painting. Don’t let the time element scare you, this is about being silly and having fun while painting a mini. All supplies and the mini will be provided. Once the timer starts, participants will have 45 minutes to paint the mini to the best of their abilities. Sophie, (or one of her minions) will intermittently apply challenges to the painters, such as painting while standing on one leg, painting polka dots somewhere on the mini, etc. Sophie understands that not everyone will be able to perform all of the challenges and encourages participants to participate as much as they feel comfortable. Every participant will receive a certificate declaring how awesome and silly they are. This is a kid friendly activity, but we do ask that anyone under 15 be accompanied by an adult. Sophie Says After Dark
This is slightly more adult themed version of Sophie Says, a fun cross of Simon Says and Speed Painting. THIS IS A PG-13 VERSION. ADULT BEVERAGES WILL BE ALLOWED AT THE TABLES AND THINGS WILL BE MAY BE MORE AWKWARD. Speed Paint
All supplies and the mini will be provided. Participants are allowed to bring their own brush if they wish. Once the timer starts, participants will have 45 minutes to paint the mini to the best of their abilities. Once the time is up all painting must cease. All entries will be judged by specially selected stunt judge. Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. All participants will receive a certificate to attest to grit and determination. This is a kid friendly activity, but we do ask that anyone under 15 be accompanied by an adult. Paint by Die Roll
This is a group skill building event rather than a competition. Step outside your comfort zone and paint with color combinations. All supplies and the mini will be provided. Participants are allowed to bring their own brush and/or palate if they wish. All participants will receive the same mini, the group will then roll a d20 to determine which portions of the mini will be what color. Example: Last year there an ogre chieftain with Palomino gold skin, purple cloth, mint green metal, and pale lichen leather. Black, White, and Brown will be provided for shading and highlighting purposes only. Everyone will receive a certificate attesting to their willingness to try new things. This is a kid friendly activity, but we do ask that anyone under 15 be accompanied by an adult. Quick Conversion
Let your creativity flow as you cut, glue, and pin your own unique mini. Use a collection of Reaper minis and pieces to create something new. Will you come up with a goblin headed rogue, or a beholder mermaid? It’s up to you. This activity will involve cutting implements and super clue so we do ask that anyone under 15 be accompanied by an adult. Ed Sculpts are Best Sculpts
When Reaper was a young company and sculptors could get first hand references for their dinosaur sculpts, now president of Reaper Miniatures, Ed Pugh, contributed to the product line by sculpting many of the skeletons. Come raise the dead and socialize with your fellow necroma.....painters. This is a kid friendly activity, but we do ask that anyone under 15 be accompanied by an adult.

It occurred to me out of the blue today that I've completely forgotten to call Houlihans (the on-site hotel restaurant) to see if seating for 30-40 people could be reserved on Sunday.

I did this last year, and from all reports this arrangement was well-received and convenient for everyone.

If there are no strong objections, I plan to call tomorrow (Monday) to see if such can be arranged again. I just hope it's still possible, it's getting a bit close...

Last year I made the reservation for 6:30pm. For those that went last year, was 6:30pm a good time, or would earlier have been better? My thinking last year was that it would give some time after the auction for people to do some packing first (also gives a buffer in case the auction runs super long).

Looking forward to seeing y'all SOON!

      Huzzah!
