Before and After

I went back and touched up some of my very early paint jobs from a couple of years or so back. I thought it would be fun to post some before and after pics.

 

Photo quality is getting a little better, unfortunately most of these models are no longer in my possession and I have no way of taking better pics for when I finally get a decent camera.

 

I know some people like to look at how they progressed over time and keep their 1st minis untouched, but I really like these models so much, that I wanted to bring them up to how I had hoped they would look when I first painted them.

 

Hope you enjoy my extra bit of effort and their final time in the spotlight.

thanks though I just can't help but laugh when I look at the wizard staff in the before and how I thought it was supposed to be bent like that. Realizing later when somebody pointed out that reaper sometimes bends things to get them to fit into the packaging.

The "before" minis are nothing to be ashamed of, solid good paint jobs.

 

The "After" minis, a huge improvement, they look so vivid, more "alive" the clours really pop now.

Loving the comparisons, what a great idea! The newer figures certainly look more dynamic with your greater use of light and shadow, especially the first one.

It is crazy how much your deeper contrasts and starker highlights add to a mini.

 

Now, I feel like my paint jobs are stuck in a "before" and never progressed to an "after"...
I may have to rethink my painting priorities (volume Vs quality) as your excellent job really shows the difference more attention brings.

I have echo everyone else. The originals are pretty good jobs themselves and the new ones are just amazing!

oh man, I remember when I got to the point of quality vs quantity. Suddenly I went from a night to a week in order to finish a mini and it was a shock. I was really upset that it was taking me longer, but the end result was nicer. So, the ones for gaming get quantity treatment and the ones I have a personal liking for or if I am painting for a friend get quality treatment.
