Toasty
Thank you everyone for attempting to find my wierdly specific miniatures requests before, but I have a new issue. I am looking for a plastic polearm appropriately sized for a 28mm orge, so large sized for normal D&D minis. I have been able to find such items in GW plastics but all of them have hands sculpted right onto the weapon. I need one that is free of such appendages. Would anyone be able to recommend a conversion bit or piece of a large miniature set that would fit the bill?

If so just glue it to a hunk of plastic tube to make a giant's pole axe.

Use a round toothpick, and you've got wood grain, and a pointy end built right in! :)
Bruunwald
BBQ skewers from the supermarket are quite long, usually VERY textured with wood grain, and fairly sturdy. They are oversized for a human mini, but have two very important uses in my house: 1. I like to skewer zombies on them ala Vlad the Impaler and make nasty scenery. 2. They work very well as polearms for Large+ sized creatures. Barring that, go ahead and get the GW plastic. You can slice the hands off by cutting along the shaft with a sharp blade, and re-texture the plastic with same. You won't lose any of the width if you're careful. And it only takes a few minutes.
Mad Jack
I think filing off the hands on the piece you've already found would be the simplest way to do it. If the hands are solid bits of plastic, it will be a simple thing to take a sprue cutter and carefully clip off most of the hand, with the remainder sliced off with a hobby knife. You'll want to leave the area covered by the hand and fingers just a bit thicker than the rest of it so that you don't accidentally take off too much, and then sand it down to the appropriate thickness with a file or a sanding stick. After that, it will be really easy to continue whatever pre-existing wood grain pattern is on the haft through that small area by scratching it in with a needle, awl or hobby knife. Also, if it just so happens that the weapon is placed in the miniature's hands in a way that its hand covers the area where you removed the original hand from the weapon, your job gets even easier.
