September RP Challenge!

Recommended Posts

Please see the main post here for rules, questions and general chatter, while using this thread to keep a list of links to your show-offs or show-off related comments in a single post: A reminder to please adhere to miniatures posting guidelines as usual.
All the information you need should be here.

Your challenge is: 5

Bonus Challenge: Johnny Appleseed
September 26th is recognized as the birthday of Johnny Appleseed (aka Johnny Chapman.) While the legend is larger than life, historically he did plant apple trees and sell trees to other settlers. (as far as preliminary research goes.) While a vague theme, the challenge is "Apple" as in the fruit. If you use only apple barrel paints? That qualifies? Sculpt/paint an apple? go for it.

1. IMEF Reggie (Show-Off)

2. IMEF Torch (Show-Off)

3-10. Gray Aliens (Show-Off)

11. Hellstromme (Show-Off)

12. Andre Durand (Show-Off)*

13 done not bad! Unfortunately those last 2 were for friends. So while they count for the RP challenge they aren't really reducing my pile of unpainted minis. I should stop being so nice and volunteer a little less!

Sadly I have no time this month although thank you for explaining about Johnny Appleseed! I'd honestly forgotten that. I was *wondering* why we were singing "It's apple month it's apple month September is apple month" in Pre school lmao

I remember an old video game. Windows 3 era. The player controlled an archer. Each level had a different style of target. Levels were progressively more difficult. At about level 8 the targets were evil trees, who could shoot back by hurling rotten apples.

If somebody wants to nick the idea and run with it...do please.

Not sure I will succeed this month, since I am in a painting funk now. Just in case, here is my placeholder.

      Short Wart's Cohort Mort
Being a band of bony retribution soon to cross the Brandywine and come a-knocking on little round doors under the hills.
Most of these skeleton minis are from the same second hand purchase where I got the zombies that were featured a few week ago. I got the incomplete undead mammoth off Ebay several years ago, and Short Wart himself is an Oathsworn Halfling Necromancer. All minis have been given 3D printed bases, most of them 25mm.
There are a lot of pics beneath, although some are distictly unfocussed, as if a dark power did not wish to be documented...

Yet another of my entries in a painting league on another forum

      Pride and Joy
A nice walk in the park for the Lovecrafts.
Sorry about the pics being a bit blurry, I am still struggling with the camera. It seems it is not meant for such small items.
Most of the miniatures are from a recent 2019 kickstarter by Bear's Head Miniatures, apart from the large Star Spawn that is from the game Cthulhu Wars by Petersen Games. One of the kickstarters for that game had an option for one each of the miniatures extra, and this one is from that set. I hacked off the moulded base it originally came with so I could have similar style bases for the whole family.
Lots of pics and such below, go on, you know you want to click it:

      "Bring Out Your Dead!"
I envision this as a wandering band who collects the dead. Sometimes they need to make ther cargo dead first. Being death warmed over themselves, they do not know what else to do with their unlives.
lots more pictures beneath the click:

The chibi smallworld minis are all based on existing normal minis in the Reaper lines. I recognized five of them from the minis I have from earlier Bones kickstarters, but not Arnise the female barbarian elf that I painted the other day.
The reason being that the original was included in the Bones 4 core set. An older metal mini being redone into Bones material it seems.

So I painted her in a similar scheme.

The metal version is called Arnise, Elven Sergeant from the Warlord line, and represents the Sergeant of Almirithil's frenzied half-elven berserkers in the Warlord lore.

Why hello there, you remind me of someone I once knew...

Plonking away a the Bones 4 core set, this is number 5:
I am not a number! I am a free man!
The metal version of this is called Ankoa, Barbarian Hero.
He has a really small head compared to most of the other minis. I expect he is not too bright. Probably not destined to bear the jeweled crown of Aquilonia upon a troubled brow.

There's a new playah in town! Come get some!
      B4Core #5 Barbarian
from the Bones 4 Core set, 2019
      Reaper Miniatures
      Sculpted by Bobby Jackson
      Made in Bonesium PVC
      30mm base
