77004: Cave Troll - Bones Quick Paint

This is one of my favorite monster pieces.  I love the sculpt and he is a blast to paint.  I have a couple more that I want to do, though I'm not sure what colors I will use next.  This one was pretty basic, a green, dirty troll.  I may need him this coming weekend for a session, so I wanted to make sure he was ready.  Total time invested is a little over 2 hours, mainly due to letting layers and varnish dry.

No kidding!  Probably looks better than most of my regular painting. :)  The growths on its back are pretty gross (in a good way!).

Agreed, must compare with a slow painted work :) Not too shiny either, did you use a matt varnish on that one?

Indeed I did.  Usually, I coat all of mine in about 3-4 coats of matte varnish because most of what I paint is intended for use in game.  The pustules on the back have a gloss varnish applied to give them a sort of "wet" look on the table.  The pictures don't really show it all that well.

Done quickly or not the Big Grumpy Guy turned out SPLENDIDLY. As always with quick/speed paints, I wondered just how good he would have looked if you could have taken more time. In this case it could have been mind boggling.  All that aside, VERY NICELY DONE!
