October 1st and 2nd's Question:

Suppose you are in a coffee shop hanging out with middle school version of you (or a clone with the stolen memories of yourself at that time, cast into the future to prevent a paradox).

If you were talking about who you were going to be as a person when you grew up versus who you are right now, how different is what you both want?

Sorry but I'm going to skip this question.  Some stuff really is too private to be shared.

Middle school was a rough spot... I think I'd be very comforted to know that things generally turn out okay... and fairly understanding that there are ups and downs along the way. I'd be thrilled/weirded out to know that mini painting, D&D, and Star Trek are still such a big part of my life, and that none of these things kept me from getting dates, kissed, or (ye gods) married!!

Middle school me would annoy now me, to death!!! Middle school me was close-minded, in serious need of some proper coping techniques, etc. I also really wanted to be a phlebotomy major... That's not gonna happen, ever. I watched way too much anime and didn't interact with enough people. I was way self involved... I would murder middle school me. Middle school me *shudders* ekkit.

Middle school me would be deeply disappointed in me for giving up for so many years, for losing my happiness, for losing my ability to fly.

But I wouldn't have the heart to tell her why. I wouldn't have met my soul mate without those years of events. I could only tell her that you can't choose family, and sometimes you really do just have to take the day a few minutes at a time.

We'd get along, though. I bet she'd cheer me up with her bubbliness, and we'd still have the same interests! I'd let her know that, yes, girls count as an interest, and that's okay.

She would have just created Lexosceles as a coping mechanism for the future. She would have been delighted to see Morihalda's creation.

Thinking back on it: MiddleSchool me and GradeSchool me were both asked with some frequency by the grown-ups inhabiting the circles I was allowed to frequent the following question:

What do you want to be when you grow up?

I soon and quickly learned to tell lies. (Which is a bit remarkable given some other aspects of my upbringing.) It quickly became obvious that I was expected to have an answer, and that if I didn't, there was something not quite right with me.

The truth was, of course: I had no idea. I was just a kid.

But I learned rather quickly that was the wrong answer & the truth would not do.

I can remember being about 7[?] and answering, "cement truck driver". "Accountant" was another false flag I sailed under, [age 10?] but there were other responses. Years later I had settled on answering, "architect" and I had given that answer often enough that it surprised some people when I didn't choose it as a major in college.

Question for October 3rd, 2016
It's the first Monday of October. If you celebrate Halloween, are your decorations up yet?

Not really celebrating Halloween here.

Although last year we carved some pumpkins ( they can bee seen in my index of painted minis oddly enough..)

Maybe will do that again, depends...first my girl and me are going away for a few days.

Yes, although it's a celebration of All Hallow's Eve here. And candy. Candy, candy, candy, candy, candy.

Hahaha. Was that a reference to a favored animated cat special?

I don't live in the past.

There aren't kids in our area that go trick or treating.

That makes me sad. I get to drag my one year old out this year. Super excited to do so. Was great fun last year.
