I made a thing today...

Iffin' I wasn't a Griffin this would have to be classified as a Frogcident.

attachicon.gifimage.jpeg

I will add part numbers to the tags if anyone can ID some of them.

Awesome!!!!

The Right arm is from this guy:

For the Heretics unfamiliar with him, This is the main body:

I believe the wings are from Narthrax:

That only leaves the terrain piece behind him..

EDIT:

Terrain comes from Mashaaf

Is the sword arm still original? Can't see it in the pic

Yeah, You just enjoy yourself there, while I try to make sense from the things you randomly put together...

Storm Giant Dragonblood Sorcerer?

That makes it sound so deliberate... :;): It went more like this: reach hand into giant plastic tub, draw out item at random; Storm giant body! Look at 5-6 other parts, nope, nope, naw, hmm... Find mismatched wings. Ask others for help finding a match to either wing. (I'll remember who found that second wing and credit them here...it was Tim Hill the sculptor who found an opposite wing. ) Carve wings, carve back, dry fit, carve wings, carve back, dry fit, back to carving...

It was all very Dr Frankenstein....with a number of people playing Igor. I think Gene was the one that brought over the dragon that donated the left hand (claw)...or possibly Bobby.

Thank you Xherman!

I believe the wings are from Narthrax...

That only leaves the terrain piece behind him...

The sword arm is no longer original. I will try to get a new picture from another angle. And I did insert a big chunk of something else's integral base into the round grey base.

So three part numbers down, three to go.

You're welcome..

The terrain is mostly Mashaaf's I believe.

Now to see the other piece of terrain and the sword arm...

We stragglers will solve the puzzle, since we have nothing better to do on the forums, since you guys are having ALL the fun there...

I snapped another picture yesterday. Different angle revealing the left claw/hand.

post-7586-0-34125100-1477120511_thumb.jpeg

Some additional material has been added to the base. It needs a little more crevasse covering, maybe some sand and ballast added. The base is a 50mm 75mm round.

In the picture, a slightly out of focus Bob Ridolfi can be seen in the background. Purple pumpkin included just for Oneboot (...and Yes, on Thursday it did contain chocolate...long since gone by now.)

Confirmed. Four down; two to go.

Xherman is correct there is a big section of Mashaaf's base inserted as a drop in behind the giant's legs. Here it is in one of OneBoot's pictures:

I tried , but I can't find it just yet.

For a moment I thought it was a stone Giant's hand or a werewolf's hand, but those aren't it..

TGP, aside from the Claw, what part are we missing now?

We are at 5 of 6 Xherman. The 5th part was the Reaper base. Edit: I am certain it was a dragon.

This is going to be an exciting paint-up!

At present I have almost No Idea what colors to do!

Next steps are: add more rocks, pebbles, sand to the base and break out some green stuff to work on the gaps and join ups.

Storm Giant. Or Blue Zeus if you will.

Being from the first Bones kickstarter, this mini is in the softer material. That big sword there was a noodle when I received it. I repositioned it with hot water, and again, it is for the most part OK even if it is slightly bent, it is only apparent from certain angles.
Also, it has a mould line indentation groove going down the front shoulder that I probably should have filled, as it became very apparent after painting.
I based it on a 76mm bespoke 3Dprinted round lipped base.

For some reason, the female is quite a lot smaller than the male. Say what you will, they certainly are giant sized when compared with humans!
I chose to paint them as Papa Smurf and Smurfette, just because.

In the third kickstarter Reaper started redoing the Giants, replacing them with significantly larger versions of previously released ones. These have not been remade (yet). I would expect them to do that in the expected-to-be-upcoming fifth kickstarter, as they have recently shown off a print of the same female figure in a different pose and at about twice the size.

I painted the Bones Black, Bones, and Wizkids owlbears as Great Horned Owls. This is the Wizkids owlbear. When you put the three together, they make a crazy singing group!

I painted the Bones Black, Bones, and Wizkids owlbears as Great Horned Owls. This is the Bones owlbear. My husband calls him the crazy chicken. He is a little on the scrawny side and more than a bit manic. His face reminds me of Animal from the Muppets.

I painted the Bones Black, Bones, and Wizkids owlbears as Great Horned Owls. This is the Bones Black owlbear. Not sure why it isn't in the store, even under the special edition section. I used the number it was assigned my order form. Anyway, it is a pretty cool model! I have several of them so will be able to paint them as different types of owls. I definitely need a Hedwig owlbear!

      Hi folks,

It's been awhile since I posted, and since I've been painting online with friends a lot more, I figured it was time to get back to it! Painted this one via Twitch livestream the other night when someone in chat suggested a freehand pattern similar to a marsh frog (to go with the "bog" theme). While I can't take credit for the idea, we took the concept and ran with it-- I think the freehand really makes him stand out! Below is a frog stock photo I pulled for general reference.

The hardest part was picking a random pattern to draw on the wings and mirroring it on the other side. Oh, and trying not to make him look too cute, with big, cartoony googly eyes, though the sculpt is stinkin' adorable, I just can't stand it! Thanks Bob Ridolfi for creating yet another Reaper sculpt that makes me smile

I can't decide whether I want to break up the beautiful matte paint finish (all Reaper MSP colors) with a gloss varnish on the egg-like-sac-protuberances on his back... part of me wants to keep it all matte, but another part of me wants it to look extra gross and slimy. Thoughts?

I appreciate you taking a peek! Hope you have a great day

      Thanks,
      Mocha
