Aku-chan paints Steampunk Dorothy

An old foe returns!

This is about the sixth time I've tried painting this mini (well not this mini, this is Dorothy 2, original Dorothy was starting to lose a bit of definition having had the paint scrubbed off her so many times), and I'm determined to get her finished finally.

 

So far:-

 

 

I've got her skin finished,

1:1 Vallejo Flat Flesh/ Vallejo Rosy Skin,

Fleshshade Wash,

1:1 Flat Flesh/ Rosy Skin,

1:1:1 Flat Flesh/ Rosy Skin/ Light Flesh.

 

She's practically microscopic compared to all the Games Workshop stuff I've been working on lately, so I'm taking things very slowly.

Cool. I have her but never noticed the dog is a robot. (Darn aging eyes!)  Will be watching to see how she comes along.

I just restarted mine as well! She's only recently moved off of the shelf of shame. I'm looking forward to seeing yours come along.

What issues did you have with her before? 

 

It's always either, I keep making mistakes and she gets shelved out of pure frustration, and then when I get back to her I can't remember what colours I was using, or her paint scheme spirals out of control and she ends up in Clown Town.

 

Between this thread and my paint diary, I should have reason one sorted (though there's little I can do about struggling with all the fiddly bits), so I just need to keep an eye on her colour scheme.

Her blank, soulless eyes were just large enough to bother me into trying to paint them (the left one is a bit wonkier, but I was up to attempt 4 and the paint was getting a bit too thick to try again).

She also got lipstick (Vallejo Scarlett Red), hair (Oiled Leather > Brown Wash > Oiled Leather), hair ribbons (Vallejo Royal Blue), a pendant (Vallejo Bronze) and some sort of neck-ruff/collar-thingy (Vallejo Wolf Grey).

She's coming together.  Once you've got the face/skin done, it's all easy after that.  ;-)

I'll third that, her face is really lovely!  You've also made me realize I need to basecoat that exposed area on her inner leg/thigh and her hand holding the gun. :P

Thanks guys! She's coming along a lot smoother than I thought she would.

 

I think this is the first attempt where I've noticed she has a little bit of skin peeking out of the top of her stocking. And don't forget her left hand, it's tucked in between her corset and flower basket (I found it during today's painting session).

 

 

 

Today, she got a hat (1:1 Vallejo Cold Sea Grey/Vallejo Black > Black Wash > 1:1 Cold Sea Grey/Black) with a ribbon (Royal Blue) and a feather (Vallejo Hawk Turquiose > Black Wash > Hawk Turquiose > 1:1 Hawk Turquiose/Off-white). Plus, of course, Steampunk Hat-Goggles! (Vallejo Brassy Brass with 1:1 Royal Blue/Off-white lenses).

 

I then did her blouse and stocking (Ghost Grey > Grey Wash > Ghost Grey) and her corset (1:1 Vallejo Leather Brown/Scarlett Red > Brown Wash > Leather Brown/Scarlett Red with Bonewhite laces). It was at this point I found the fingers of her left hand, so I did them as well.
