Aku-chan paints Steampunk Dorothy

Cool. I have her but never noticed the dog is a robot. (Darn aging eyes!)  Will be watching to see how she comes along.

What issues did you have with her before?

I just restarted mine as well! She's only recently moved off of the shelf of shame. I'm looking forward to seeing yours come along.

It's always either, I keep making mistakes and she gets shelved out of pure frustration, and then when I get back to her I can't remember what colours I was using, or her paint scheme spirals out of control and she ends up in Clown Town.

Between this thread and my paint diary, I should have reason one sorted (though there's little I can do about struggling with all the fiddly bits), so I just need to keep an eye on her colour scheme.

Progress:-

Her blank, soulless eyes were just large enough to bother me into trying to paint them (the left one is a bit wonkier, but I was up to attempt 4 and the paint was getting a bit too thick to try again).

She also got lipstick (Vallejo Scarlett Red), hair (Oiled Leather > Brown Wash > Oiled Leather), hair ribbons (Vallejo Royal Blue), a pendant (Vallejo Bronze) and some sort of neck-ruff/collar-thingy (Vallejo Wolf Grey).

She's coming together.  Once you've got the face/skin done, it's all easy after that.  ;-)

I like the face.

I second that. Her face is LOVELY & expressive. She is progressing WONDERFULLY!

I'll third that, her face is really lovely!  You've also made me realize I need to basecoat that exposed area on her inner leg/thigh and her hand holding the gun. :P

Thanks guys! She's coming along a lot smoother than I thought she would.

I think this is the first attempt where I've noticed she has a little bit of skin peeking out of the top of her stocking. And don't forget her left hand, it's tucked in between her corset and flower basket (I found it during today's painting session).

Today, she got a hat (1:1 Vallejo Cold Sea Grey/Vallejo Black > Black Wash > 1:1 Cold Sea Grey/Black) with a ribbon (Royal Blue) and a feather (Vallejo Hawk Turquiose > Black Wash > Hawk Turquiose > 1:1 Hawk Turquiose/Off-white). Plus, of course, Steampunk Hat-Goggles! (Vallejo Brassy Brass with 1:1 Royal Blue/Off-white lenses).

I then did her blouse and stocking (Ghost Grey > Grey Wash > Ghost Grey) and her corset (1:1 Vallejo Leather Brown/Scarlett Red > Brown Wash > Leather Brown/Scarlett Red with Bonewhite laces). It was at this point I found the fingers of her left hand, so I did them as well.

Presenting Pigsy, part of the Guild of Harmony faction from the game Twisted.

Had a lot of fun painting this one, I was originally a bit worried by all the little details and layers of clothing but it wasn't a problem.

As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

Presenting the Scarab Mummy, a minion for the Egyptian faction in the game Twisted, he's a mummy that's been redesigned to have a more pleasing beetle theme (which I guess technically makes him more of a Flesh Golem).

Had a lot of fun with this one, I'm still pretty bad at painting gems but I think I'm getting better.

Presenting an Android Flower-seller, part of the Servants of the Engine faction in the Twisted game universe.

Had a lot of fun painting this one, although given a second chance I probably would've given her brighter flowers, and luckily you can't see the terrible bit of mold slip going on across her bonnet from this angle.

This project was initiated by a little failed experiment with 2 parts epoxy resin (for water effect) that snowballed into a completely unrelated diorama.
I put a kelpie in a clear tube and poured epoxy resin on it. There were too many bubbles in it. But this reminded me of the round aquariums so often pictured in mad scientists’ lab.
The closest mini for scientists I had, were 2 chronoscope Bones. The furniture and decor is a mix of handmade (foam, clay, random recycling), Boardgame spare pieces (Dungeon Saga) and Bones.

      C&C welcome.

Starting a new mini, called Blunderbuss, she's one of my many, many (many) Twisted Urkins I have left to paint.

      Made some progress today:-

Painted her gas-mask, it's mostly Red Leather shaded with Brown Wash, but it's also got Iraqi Sand stitches, Bronze bits, Oily Steel bits and a 1:1 Magic Blue/Ghost Grey eye lens.
