Progress:-

A bad back has kept me away from the painting table but I managed a bit today.

Thought it would be a good idea to keep her jacket and skirt the same colour, so I gave them a basecoat of Vallejo Blue Violet, shaded with 1:1 Blue Violet/Vallejo Hexed Lichen and highlighted with 1:1 Blue Violet/Off-white.

I did the lapels of her jacket in pure Hexed Lichen, and the inner-lining in 1:1 Hexed Lichen/Black.

Getting there slowly.

More progress:-

Nibbling away at the little dress details.

To keep the colour scheme under control, I've been repeating colours. So her boots are the same as her corset (with Oiled Leather heel detail) and the hem of her dress is the same turquoise as the feather in her hat.

She also got a Lonestar Leather holster and belts,a Bonewhite/Sepia Wash underskirt, a Vallejo Bronze pocket watch, a Tanned Leather map/scroll and an Oily Steel lock-pick.

Not much left.

I got "in the Zone", and now she's pretty much finished, just need to do some tidying up and a few highlights.

I also undercoated her base:-

It doesn't look like much yet, but I think I'm getting better at using my basing stamps, I'm fairly certain there's no fingerprints on this one.

...Maybe.

Looks good. The purple looks a little flat. The highlights are there but the folds could use some shading. Also, have you considered lining? The hair that comes over her chest could use a little differentiation.

There's definitely both shading and lining going on in there, I probably haven't gone dark enough like usual.

Despite one final minor disaster ( the paint on the folds of her dress rubbed off when I was attaching her to her base), I am victorious and Dorothy has finally made her way to a show-off thread.

Getting comfortable using the dark shades and the bright highlights is kind of difficult, isn't it. At least it was for me. I probably would have put some Burgundy Wine into whatever your midtone was for most of the shading then used some nightmare purple on the bottom of some of those deep folds.
