Green Lantern - PEZ dispenser repaint

Recommended Posts

Wow! Wonderfully done and what a great idea!

As others have said, looking at your work I would never have guessed it started out as a Pez dispenser.

Thank you all for the nice words.

It surely beats spending many dollars for a bust, if you just want to practice at a larger scale, right?

I'll keep my eye for any superhero PEZ dispensers for you...

You can sometimes find these inexpensively at secondhand stores and thrift shops as well.

I know they made a Flash bust at some point - also Spiderman, The Lizard, Green Goblin, Catwoman, Superman and Wonder Woman busts, that I can recall... Some of them are over a decade or two old, though. Not sure just what they've done since the recent spate of superhero movies in the past few years.

You can also find just heads for Thor, Wolverine, Iron Man, Hulk and Capt. America, but I don't know if they've ever done busts for them.

Edit: Hmm, apparently they have busts for most of the Disney Princesses as well.

(Awhile back, I bought a couple of Disney Paint-Your-Own-Princess sets that each came with a pair of 6-inch resin statues. They had some pretty decent detail on them - more than good enough to use them as statues for gaming, I could probably use them as giants.)

That is a great idea and the repaint is definitly an improvement. Gladly the dispenser was not covered in gunky paint nd it seems the modling is also quite good. Another excelelnt source for scale appropriate miniatures (e. g. wildlife) are Kinder Surprise eggs. Not all of them will work, but sometimes they have good stuff.

I was under the impression that these were unavailable ( illegal) in the USA?

EDIT:

I just googled a bit.

There are also Marvel Superheroes, I spotted Iron Man, Cpt. America, Thor and the Hulk.

Also Star Wars.

A great resource for cheap repaintable little busts.

And there is an older set with another version of Batman and Superman, and Wonder Woman!

Kinder Surprise are illegal in the US? I am amazed, as children growing up in Germany we always got a Kinder Surprise from our Grandma on her weekly visit and I am still alive :P.

Maybe you can still get the miniatures contained via ebay. This is anyway  a better choice than buying a blind bag.

We needed a vulture for Rangres shadowdeep and I remembered I had a toy eagle. I was surprised by the level of detail on it and I like how it turned out.

Hi all.  I've got a few minis floating around that were painted when my skills were lesser.  Been humoring the idea of touching them up.  My finished minis are sealed with a coat of Krylon Matte spray.  Any tips for touching up minis?  Anything to look out for?

"On mounting a rising ground, which brought the figure of his fellow-traveller in relief against the sky, gigantic in height, and muffled in a cloak, Ichabod was horror-struck on perceiving that he was headless! – but his horror was still more increased on observing that the head, which should have rested on his shoulders, was carried before him on the pommel of his saddle!"

After watching Sleepy Hollow the other day, I wanted to share with you this Headless Horseman that I painted up a year ago for a Sleepy Hollow One-Shot.

At the time, Nolzur's did not have their unpainted version available, so I tracked down a Pathfinder Pre-Paint and decided to give it a makeover.  The mini was a birthday gift to a friend who was running her first ever D&D game.

      And the finished result!

It's still a bit drab, but definitely better than the original.  And the recipient of the gift loved the present!  Though our true adversary did turn out to be a flame-skull and the horseman barely saw any table time!  It's still a great piece to memorialize a DM's first game!

So I had this mini for some time, it was damaged, missing an arm and a hand. I repaired it using some bits and repainted it. Here's the WIP topic. I like how everything turned out, thanks for looking!

So a while ago I bought 10 of these prepainted wizkids merfolk minis off ebay for cheap. The paintjob on them is horrible but I like the sculpts quite a lot and my dnd group used them all the time during our underwater adventure campaign and was quite happy with th. One of them was missing an arm and I just put her in "to do" box and didn't use her in my games. After some time I chopped of her hand for another project and in the end I was left with an armless and handles mermaid.

Since my bits box has grown quite substantially during the last year I decided to pick something out for her in the arms and hands department and also repaint her.
I will post updates on the process here and in the end make a new topic in the show off section. I'm open to comments, criticism and sugestions and I hope you like this proces!
      Thank you for looking!
