The Frequently Ignored "Rules"
1. Every day, or so (unless I am out or ill or something) I will post a question.
2. In theory there is a 24 hour span to answer that question before the next question is posted.
2.5. (Rule 2 is the most frequently ignored rule.)
3. Questions are going to be posted between 12:01AM and 5AM GMT.
4. Everyone is encouraged to submit questions to be posted by me via PM.
5. You do not have to answer every question...
6. If a question is TMI or N/A simply wait for the next question or post that you decline to answer (why would be nice).
7. Questions usually run 2, perhaps 3 days on weekends.

Question for December 1st, 2016

What is the strangest (valid or not) reason you've ever had to call in sick / miss school / etc?

I went in to receive my monthly allergy shot injection and was told that if they went through with it, it would probably kill me. Turns out I wasn't just having a bad allergy season, I had an upper respiratory infection that was lowering my lung capacity to less than 50%. I decided to not go in to work after all.

I passed out at my boss's feet once.  Despite my assurances to the contrary (it is a thing that used to happen from time to time and I knew how to deal with it; long story), he made me go home. I spent the rest of the day painting.

My appendix burst while I was at work. That was kinda strange.

EDIT: Also only happens once, so I can't use THAT one again...

You could always get a transplant.

I think it's "the roof on our studio caved in from the storm and water is flooding all of our musical equipment."

(Incidentally, he was a jerk boss and tried to tell me "so what?" despite potential losses in the thousands, versus coming in for my then-less-than-min-wage job as a barista at an independent coffee shop.)

That might have been it. There might have been stranger, but that leaps to mind first. I don't count the time I had a nervous breakdown because that's not strange, just tragic.

"We're writing our masterpiece."

Luckily, I was employed at an accordion school at the time, so the boss said, "ok, play it for me." We did, and he said, "Ok, but I'm not paying you for your shift. See you tomorrow, bring in a recording."
