Getting to Know Each Other - December 2016

Recommended Posts

12/6: Yes, I'm familiar with both, and while I haven't used any specifically in roleplaying, I've actually used some items off the evil overlord list for setting up my lair...err... house.

Question for Dec 6, 2016
Are you familiar with "750 things Mr Welch can no longer do in an RPG"? How about the Evil Overlord List? Have you used either of them as inspiration for a gaming scenario? Or for real life?

I have no idea...

Yes to all, and Mr. Welch's list is now up to 2450 things he is no longer allowed to do in RPGs.

I once pitched a superhero that was a cactus with TK, ant propelled himself around in a kids red wagon.  I think it was from welch

The DM wouldn't let me play it but stole it for an NPC.  There was  cactus sitting in our bosses office. That it had powers may have just been a (in game) rumor.

My fav from the overlord list, is "Don't turn into a giant snake, it never helps"  It is amazing how often I find a reason to quote this.

I was not aware of the Mr Welch list, but I was quite familiar with the Skippy list this was based on. I intentionally broke several of those. For those aware of military disciplinary measures, I received 12 Article 15s in the space if one year, 8 months and 16 days. They figured an honorable medical discharge was the best easiest way to send me home.

The evil overlord list is pretty much my to-do list when I finally reach that stage. I just need to figure out what I need to accumulate first before I can put the Evil plans in place. Henchmen or secret lair?

Question for Dec 5, 2016

When you start a new RPG campaign, do you feel compelled to paint up minis to suit it?

Today's question suggested by the inimitable Pezler the Polychromatic!

Frequently, yes. Sometimes I already have minis to suit it.

Not really. Since anymore my rpg table gaming is at ReaperCon, I do tend to look at the Reaper catalog for inspiration for pregens that I make for the games I'll run.

Dec 6

Uh no, thou I may have heard of something similar.

The rules: as they were last month (in addition to all regular forum rules) except where I sneakily changed them:

      1. Every day, or so (unless I am out or ill or something) I will post a question. †
1.5. Should I be unable to post a question for the day, a crack team of deputy quisitors, former quisitors, and random forum members are all chomping at the bit to step in and post one... ††
      2. In theory there is a 24 hour span to answer that question before the next question is posted.
2.5. (Rule 2 is the most frequently ignored rule.)
      3. Questions are going to be posted sometime before 1 AM Reaper time (US Central).
      4. Everyone is encouraged to suggest future questions to be posted via PM to Talespinner or Morihalda…
      5. You do not have to answer every question to play...
      6. If a question is TMI or N/A simply wait for the next question.. ..or post that you decline to answer (clues regarding why can be fun...unless TMI).
      7. Weekend questions may take the form of two or three day quests, starting on Friday or Saturday.
      8. Pix always welcome.

The first question will need to be posted after a brief (10 minute) pause to foil the merging of posts.
The footnotes, because I can't resist doing †††footnotes:

      † I will aim for 0600 Reaper/Nottingham time.
††  If subs and backstops could wait until 11AM in Reaper/Denton's timezone to see if I remember.
      ††† …because I re-remembered how to do the dagger ( † ) symbol.

      October 1st and 2nd's Question:
Suppose you are in a coffee shop hanging out with middle school version of you (or a clone with the stolen memories of yourself at that time, cast into the future to prevent a paradox).
If you were talking about who you were going to be as a person when you grew up versus who you are right now, how different is what you both want?

Edited for formatting. And the question has been updated. The niceties must be observed.
