03140: Ollamiel, Male Sea Elf

Recommended Posts

Well after what seems like forever I have returned to painting stuff.  Has been a huge couple of months.   I bought and moved into a house, started a new job and lost my Dad to cancer.    Kind of put the kibosh on painting.   Didn't help I also screwed my arms up moving in.   Anyhoo on the weekend decided to start on finishing everything that has been sitting around while I went back and forth between my old home in Sydney and new place in Goulburn.  The sea elf was first cab off the ranks.

For some reason came out a little fuzzy.  Am thinking might need to get new camera.

He looks great!  And I agree with Xherman, those eyes are super!

Actually, the fuzziness makes it look like he's really underwater.   With a few aquarium plants in the background they would be some cool photos. :)

I really like your color choices. Beautiful skin tone and love the green hair. Also like how the bronze contrasts with his skin color, it's a good color combo. And lovely colorful reef he is perched on.

One of my work colleagues when I showed them the pic started into Zoolander 'Merman dad...merman'.   Never realized that yes...it is Derek Zoolander doing Blue Steel.

Presenting Volturnos, a character from the Idoneth (or Sea Elf) faction in the Warhammer:- Age of Sigmar game by Games Workshop.

Not my best work, I struggled in quite a few places (particularly with the fish) so a lot of it has ended up being painted rather basically, even by my standards.
But I did get it finished, so I'll count this as a partial victory.

As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

This one has been standing around half-painted for a while. The rule 63 Drizzt Do'Urden from Bones 2.
This model is quite nice from the front and back, but really flat from the side. Which is typical of originally made for single piece metal casting-minis.

Your panther has made a mess of my carpet! Come clean it up!

Another ReaperCon entry, and I'm pretty happy about how this one turned out! I wanted to pick up a Freeblades faction, and I went with Wood Elves, since my Frostgrave army is Dwarven. (Balance in all things!)

The mini is from DGS Games, the paints are from Reaper, the base and pigments are from Secret Weapon, and the tufts are from Shadow's Edge.

I wasn't planning on ever doing any more Work In Progress threads (The number of threads I've abandoned outnumber my finished threads by a pretty ridiculous amount at this point), but I'm trying to get back into the habit of painting every day and my brain is being a real jerk about it (he'd be a lot happier if I gave up on this whole painting nonsense and just stared mindlessly at a screen all day).
So the idea is if I post an update a day, regardless of how much progress I've made, I'll shame myself into making sure I've done enough for a worthwhile update or something.

      Day 1 (Which was yesterday):-

The King and his Seahorse have been undercoated, washed and I've started on the base, I got part way through applying the pumice paste before I realised I couldn't get to the middle without getting it all over the Seahorses tail/tentacles/tail-acles?
Today I want to try and finish the base, and maybe start on the Seahorse.

I had used a bunch of leftover paint for the Reaper bones version of Aviriel Tellerion (77070), and those colors where more in the "evil spectrum" so I switched her over to being a dark elf.  Very happy with how her face turned out, sadly she is looking down so you cannot really see it on the table.
It has been a while since I posted, I have had a slump in my desire to paint this spring and I tend to wait until I have a bunch to show off to get the light box out.   Avirion here was painted in March.
