Gadzooks!!!! I'm actually painting something again. Here's the bad boy I've chosen this time around:

I actually have a colour scheme in mind after researching other people's work on this one, and have adjusted it according to my own whims.

A quick slather of Reaper Brown Liner as a primer.

And here we have a couple of layers of P3 Sanguine Highlight to bring some proper base colour, might put have to touch up a couple spots. After this: drybrushing!

Off to a good start.

Are you planning on using this in a zombie game? Cause that would be amusing.

No, but in my mind I see a bunch of zombies running after it while Yakety Sax is playing

Either that, or the whole scene is Scooby-Dooed.

Much work was done today:

I did a bunch of layering on this, all for the first time. I started with P3 Sanguine Highlight and added P3 Carnal Pink, then kept adding the latter with each layer, did about 7-8 layers for this one. Then i used Citadel Reikland Fleshshade on it, with a final layer of pure P3 Carnal Pink. I think I'm going to use a watered-down Fleshshade to finish it off, and then start on the legs.

Need to put some shininess to it, to give it that fresh wetness look. Been going over the options for that, we'll see what works. After that is the legs, I was originally going to go with black but perhaps Charred Brown might work better.

Just a touch of work today:

Decided to add my version of magic wash, which is a 50/50 mix of water/Pledge multi-surface finish(formerly known as Future floor polish). I like the results, the shine makes it look more like fresh brains( Just do a Google image search of that if you have a strong stomach, I'm sure you'll agree).

I love the color you came up with for The Brain. TERRIFIC WORK!

For some reason or other, it brings back memories of Zacherley's show...he used a cauliflower for a stand in brain.

Thank you, I've been trying to do highlights but it's utterly pathetic. I have no real idea where to put them, it all looks the same to me. I feel like I'm just screwing it up and I'm going to be angry about it.

Recently I was given advice on how to highlight hair.

Since these are basically strains also..it might apply here too..

Which means a highlight on te top of the strain and one on the bottom of the strain.

Leaving the middel colour in between..

You could try that.

Sorry to hear about the highlighting troubles; they kick my butt, too.

I like the effect that you magic wash had on the brain, though. That's marvelous!

Thanks, I won't have any satin varnish until next week, and I wanted to make it look glistening. Intellect devourers are living creatures, so the brain should be wet and pink.

      I painted a raptor.

He was a speed paint to let out some steam.

Just a few more pieces that I completed over the memorial day weekend.  The problem with these show offs is I don't usually get to post them until after the thread wraps up...

Fun to paint and a really great sculpt, I didn't do the piece justice but I do like how it turned out.  It did give me a chance to practice my flame and yellows and reds.  Hope you like it too!

Finished painting the Roc as a Thunderbird. I lost patience halfway through, so not much blending and proper highlighting.

Well I said it already I have started a lot of wips and I`m painting at all from time to time and nothing gets finished.

Lorna The Huntress is a cool sculpt I ever wished to paint and now finaly I started it. I have got 3 wips already and you missed the first 2 ones and so I made a photo collage for you to see the other wip stages too.

Here you can see what I was talking about already: I start messy. I don`t mind about clean painting at all, but with time it all becomes more clean, finer, it gets more depth, more contrast, more vibrant colours and so on. This is the way I work.

I have no real concept for her and still consider about a base. Ideas are most welcome

I have to link her for nudity I`m afraid and the bad news are: My image hoster compressed the images. Aaaaargh. Images are too small, but I hope you see enough. Next time I can upload single photos to my image hoster and because of a different size they won`t be compressed like this big collage. For the final photos of the finished Miniature I will post a link to my homepage and there you also can see all angles of her. Nothing is finished here and I will go on working out all details more.

As always: All feedback is appreciated.

      Link for nudity:

      Lorna back side

      Cheers,
      Yvonne
