Threads merged.

And just for general info, since the forum update it appears that the tags can now be changed without breaking the links to images so it should be okay to post images in the first post.

At least until proven otherwise.

Good to know.

Thanks

Since DF is still in production I would expect Bones 3 to start to ship first, and if it does I would expect Bones 4 to start before DF KS5.  But with all the extra unexpected delays to Bones 3 I will wait till I have my minis, paint and videos in my hands before I will call Bones 4 hatched.

I managed to make my will-roll for every Dwarven Forge Kickstarter ... reasons being: it's not cheap (that in itself is not really a bonus to my will-roll), it's heavy (meaning shipping to Germany is expensive) and not-cheap plus high shipping means I have to pay a lot of import taxes and fees ...

Doesnt Dwarven Forge of a European distributor?

Problem with this European distributor is, they don't have nearly everything. For example, right now they just have 1 set of the medieval building stuff, which is prepainted and fairly expensive (85 £). And shipping to a country other than the UK is still pretty expensive.

Sadly, they seem to have some sort of exclusive deal, since I can't find Dwarven Forge anywhere in the usual German miniature online shops.

I am no expert on DF's business workings but as I understand it.

Long ago DF tried the retail way of business and in the end it did not work and moved DF toward going out of business.

So DF moved toward selling off the web and while that worked in many ways it was not good for European customers but a certain customer asked if he could become a European web store distributor of DF.  This model worked for DF and DF Europe in the days of DF resin products.

When DF made the decision to try and make products out of a PVC like substance (Dwarvenite), KS was the best option to get it done.  Now if half of DF Europe's customers take part in the KS to get their stuff they do not buy it from DF Europe's web site.  So while KS is a great option it does have it's drawbacks.

fwiw, DF was (and I think still is) known for selling out of product in the states as well, sometimes pretty quickly. That's one of the advantage of KS. Small companies can offer the wide variety of products they *want* to offer, but couldn't otherwise because of cash flow. With KS, creators know exactly how much stuff to make and avoid inventory problems.

Kodiak, you're expert enough for me! The DF forums have too much chaff to read through for DF5 information. Keep up the concise work!

Them selling out of stuff in the US is something that might change how I order from the next one. The things that I think might sell out first might be good to purchase during Kickstarter. While the more generic stuff might be good to pick up later, especially for duplicates.
