It is rather inpolite to ask people for more money before they even got the previous product.

It might be unwise, in that it might cause some of their biggest spenders to be hesitant to spend more money. (If I hadn't skipped the last project, I might even be among those who would be more hesitant.)

But I don't think politeness comes into it.

Amazon does it to me all the time, as does every other online retailer if I place more that one order at a time but I trust my online retailers just as I trust Dwarven Forge and Reaper KS.

But DF and Reaper have built up trust over the years so I am willing to trust them even when they have had trouble during this latest KSs.

You perhaps have not had such great experiences with DF and Reaper so YMMV.

I really like those broken edge tiles I hope they are an early on add-on

Below is a message DF sent out

Dear Gamers –

We’re thrilled to announce the launch of our newest Kickstarter – Dungeon of Doom! — hand-sculpted and painted terrain for gamers.

Date: Saturday, June 17th
Time:  11AM, US Eastern
Place: Kickstarter.com

Our goal for this Kickstarter: design, sculpt and paint the most comprehensive, compelling and fun modular dungeon terrain assortment ever offered.

We are thrilled with the detail, the variety and the array of great new features.  We hope you will be as well.  Here’s a preview photo:

Without your support on Kickstarter, large scale production of this incredible assortment (about 150 different items) just isn’t possible.  We’d never get past the tooling, production and inventory requirements – huge steel molds that require long production runs for efficient production of each piece.

That’s why we continue to count on our amazing backers, and it’s why we always offer the product at a lower price during the Kickstarter campaign than it will ever be again.

An important note: For those of you who haven't yet received your Castle from last year's Kickstarter, you might wonder why we are launching this new Kickstarter before completing shipments of the last one.  It's a fair question that we know we should address.

Last year's delay was prompted by our retooling some of the key pieces to improve their fit and sturdiness.  It was significantly compounded when we didn't finish tooling and casting before Christmas production season -- when die makers and casting equipment get shifted to large retailers, and our capacity takes a back seat to completing and shipping their seasonal merchandise.  It proved to be a painful bottleneck.

Needless to say, we are extremely grateful for your patience. We don't want to repeat this with Dungeon of Doom -- and we've been asked by the factory to start tooling by early July in order to avoid it. This is the main reason we are launching now.

We hope you understand -- and please know that 100% of Castle production is complete. Our US warehouse is fully devoted to completing shipments in the next couple weeks and all non-US shipments are packed and en route (if not delivered already).

Thanks so much!  We hope to see you on Kickstarter next Saturday morning the 17th!

I am glad they at least acknowledged that it is not 'very nice' to start before finishing international.

And I HAVE had very good experience with Reaper. I had not backed Dwarvenforge before. Though I read a lot of good things. So I am sure KS4 will arrive.

That said the EU 'branch' of DF is... not really all that great.

PS: The picture looks awesome. :)

IIRC (and not very well), the EU guy was less a branch than someone who contacted DF *way* before KS to do *something* about the costs of mailing heavy resin boxes from USA to European customers. You might want to ask on the DF boards if he's going to be involved in the KS fulfillment. You can also look at the updates for their KS IV how they're fulfilling ROW.

It was my understanding (and I might be incorrect) that the largest orders shipped first; part of this was that they started shipping partial orders before they had all the product. So (again, to my knowledge) all the largest orders shipped weeks ago. So, I think there is little danger of turning off the biggest backers. (Also, the fact that Dwarvenite is plasticized crack-cocaine helps with that.) I received all of my stuff except a few add-ons just about two weeks ago. There's a ton in the middle that they're working through, and they've said everything should be done in the next 2-3 weeks. (Maybe now that's 2 weeks, depending on that notice.)  I absolutely support the decision of any backer who has not yet received their product to wait before backing. And if I didn't get my shipment before the next KS ended, I definitely would feel pretty uncomfortable backing that KS. Now, Reaper and DF have done all their KS's very well, and have earned a great reputation; but they're not exactly in the range of CMON, who've done 27 and do one ever couple of months. So I don't view backing a CMON project before receiving a previously backed one in the same light as those that do a project once every one to two years.

Oh, another thing that was mentioned in the forums: while the start date has been pushed back, they didn't change the planned end date, so they're hoping to have this done well before Chinese New Year.

As someone who A) participated in all 3 DF KSs, and B) hasn't received a shipping notice for his order from #3, I'm not on the fence. If they offer something that I can see myself using in a year, I'll put down some money for it. I have no doubts that I'm going to receive the sets that I ordered. I'm not at all bothered that they're putting up the next kickstarter at the end of shipping this one, as they've been reliable and forthcoming with all of the steps of the process.

The KS is going to be roughly a month. Plenty of time for backers to get their stuff -- and for you to watch and make sure they get them. I agree that Reaper, Dwarven Forge, and CMON are on my list of companies I would back even if they have more than one project in the queue.

OTOH, For ROW, get your questions answered ASAP, from the creator, from backers of their previous projects, whoever. I regularly see shipping sticker shock and shipping issues from international backers. Reaper, Dwarven Forge, and CMON can have high shipping costs because of the weight, volume, size, etc. of the package shipped. Companies are better at shipping outside domestic, but that doesn't mean they'll ship packages the way you assume they will.

I got my castle wall and mountain set from the last KS two weeks ago. I am hoping the price point is better on this one. I felt the price to get a decent size castle last round was getting rather excessive....and now that I got my small rampart, I want to order a castle....stupid me! Lol

Rumor is this next KS will be an easier entry point.
