It's the 3rd day of the year, have you done any hobby related activities yet?

Assembled some minis, played a round of shadowrun missions. The mission had a wendigo in a bikini and swamp people with metal left arms. The minis were the long delayed warpath kickstarter.

I spent the weekend organizing my crafting space. SCA Dance Practice is tonight.

Yes. I have managed to paint something every day this year so far. I'm going to try and see how long of a streak I can make it.

 

I also cleared off my hobby desk and have room to set up a HirstArts casting area and my airbrush. We will see how long it takes for entropy to reclaim the space.

And because I never got around to answering my own question...

 

I'm looking forward to a successful job hunt which nabs me a job:

• in NYC
• with a shorter commute than I have now
• that I can take the subway to get to

Also to Bones III arriving... and I guess to Bones IV...

Put some shelves up in my new work space and unpacked a half dozen boxes of minis and models to put on them. Of course it still doesn't look like I've unpacked anything by looking at all the packed boxes.

Nope! I've been marathon watching Harry Potter instead. Today I'll be reorganizing/cleaning my basement hobby space.

Does finishing Khanjira count? I also got a kelpie about half done last night. Plan to finish her up today.

I'm also aiming to continue the streak! Did something every day through all of December, hoping to keep it up through January too.  

 

My Hirst Arts casting is on hold. For some reason I can't seem to get decent casts without ridiculous quantities of bubbles any more. I hope you have better luck than me!  (I'm currently saving up hobby funds for a small vacuum chamber kit.)

Yup. All molds, I've tried a few variations on wet water (going to try something else at some point soon), tried with no vibration, with thumping the table, and with the massager thing vibrating things at different levels... It seems like the hydrostone and MM both just really want to have a lot of little bubbles that I can't get rid of.

I haven't been able to do a lot thus far, but I did manage to put some paint on a small unit (10) of Mantic skeletons.  They're probably half done at this point; I started prepping them just before Christmas.

 

Right now, I'm trying to set up a sandbox D&D game using the Village of Hommlet, the Keep on the Borderland, Ruins of Blueholme, the Tower of Zenopus (1977 basic set sample dungeon), and the sample dungeon from the 1st ed DMG.  Some blog reading inspired me, and I've been wanting to do a start-up sandbox area anyways.  I'm still counting it as hobby stuff.  3d6 in order, baby!

Question for January 1st/2nd, 2017

Yes, I know, usually these don't start on a Sunday, but I wanted to get this up early, even if it steps on the toes of the December thread... 

 

What are you most looking forward to in 2017?

 

Most? I honestly don't know.

 

There are bunch of things I am looking forward to, if I can make them happen this year.

- Possible trip to Scotland with the girlfriend

- ReaperCon

- Gencon

- Who knows what else?

I did! I painted for nearly 90 minutes last night. It was exciting!

I am really hoping to get another hour or two tonight as well. Lately, I've been getting distracted by trying to organize my hobby storage, which is both good and bad.

I have painted a number of surprisingly nice minis with surprisingly horrid brushes.  I think Takhisis was worth a few levels.

 

I'm eager to see what I can do when my new brushes arrive and I can use something with a "point" of less than 5mm width.
