Glitterwolf
I like looking at this thread. It's intriguing to see your progress, and who knows, I might learn something.

CashWiley
More first painting this week. Got pretty bogged down, starting with a clean palette (mix mix mix) and complex forms. Focus was mostly on the nose and getting some more proper contrast in that area. Also fixed the eyebrow and sketched in the forehead.
LittleBluberry
Just so you know we're here, lurking and admiring your progress. It's instructive just observing what you do and why.
CashWiley
So I've been lax in doing sketchbook updates. It's been slower than December, but even these aren't all the work I've done in the sketchbook. Lots of Steve Huston's book moving into Loomis heads and currently working on some Gnass lessons from NMA. As I'm focused on the human figure, many of these images aren't allowed on these forums, so go to my blog for the rest of the images: https://cashwiley.com/2017/02/27/sketchbook-digest-11/
Glitterwolf
You also had me listening to Earthless.. Pretty good.
CashWiley
Hah, got to update that. It's a couple years old because I got tired of sizing graphics and making links and whatnot. :) I still do listen to them, but I mostly art to classical music these days (Prime Music's classical focus station is the best). If you like Earthless type stuff, check out the Youtube channel Stoned Meadow of Doom, so much good stuff on there. It's where I find out about all the new releases.
Glitterwolf
Thx I'll do that. I like all sorts of Rock and Metal basically.
CashWiley
Tuesday night figure drawing. Since the work is from the nude, once again I'm just linking over to my blog: https://cashwiley.com/2017/03/01/tuesday-night-figure-drawing-4/
CashWiley
Tuesday night figure drawing. NSFW: https://cashwiley.com/2017/03/08/tuesday-night-figure-drawing-5/ Last week's WIP, snapped a pic while I was in the studio for figure drawing. Working the left eye and roughing in some highlights.
CashWiley
The very sharp eye may have noticed a lack of pictures in this thread. Dropbox turned off image hosting today, so all my threads (and my blog) are broken. I'll keep you folks updated on where I go from here, but this kinda sucks. Just lost 5+ years worth of reference material. I still have the images (backups and originals at home, plus they're still ON dropbox, just not linkable), but it's herculean to try to 'fix' thousands of posts and blog posts... Just move them over to your artist page on Facebook and link from there, you can have albums on there and all that stuffs.
CashWiley
Nah, going to set up hosting. Extra paycheck this month, so I can afford to buy a few years of server time and buy out my domain name from Wordpress. But I'll have to rebuild and start over from scratch either way. Not going to trust another service with my stuff (though of course hosting is a gamble, too, I lost an old site years ago when a host shut down). Getting a bit weary with they way companies keep dicking around with their products in non-customer-friendly ways. The downside to working inside a healthy customer service environment is that bad customer service is magnified.
4tonmantis
I've been hosting my images between Deviantart, blogspot, and Facebook. So far I've been lucky and they've all behaved (somewhat). Good luck getting it sorted.
CashWiley
I've been dragging my feet on transferring all my stuff over to the new host and setting up my WP install there. Should get better next week, semester is over and I hope to be wrapping up the RFID project at work... For those not following me on FB (my temp refuge), I'm finally making some good gains on figure drawing. And I'm getting close to launching a figure drawing weekly session in my city. So lots going on! Stay tuned!
