Minitaire Brand Airbrush Paint

I received a set of Minitaire brand airbrush paint from Badger in consolation for a messed-up shipment.  I have very limited experience with airbrushing in general, and even less with specific airbrush paints.

Has anyone had any experience with this brand?

I have no experience with them but I just watched the newest miniature monthly video and Aaron spoke about them. He said they are already thinned but he still puts a drop or two of water and they thin well with straight distilled water.

Oh and I highly recommend signing up for Miniature Monthly on Patreon. they are awesome.

I bought a batch a few years ago and found that some colors were glossy and plasticky while others went on more like Reaper MSP.

I like the Badger Stynylrez primer but decided not to keep the Minitaire paints when I was paring down in preparation for moving.

Anyone have any experience with the golds in that line? Looking to find a shiny chrome-like gold finish.

Have you looked at the Vallejo Liquid Gold line? Alcohol based metallic paints. They look amazing. Definitely the shiniest metallics I've seen. They use real tiny metal flakes instead of silicates like most metallics. Being alcohol based, you'll definitely want a respirator when spraying them. I'm not sure anyone has a perfect spray chrome, but they are as close as you're getting without spraying an Alclad Lacquer.

I've used them some. Very satisfied with the results.

I've mostly used them as a base, for which they work great, but they generally behave beautifully through my airbrush.

The skin color did end up very slightly plastic-ey, but it also takes washes and paint over top nicely enough that it hasn't been a problem.

I haven't tried it yet, but I have some of their "Chrome Silver." I can probably see how that looks later this week, if that would be helpful (not exactly the same, but it may give an indication). Generally for really shiny chrome-like finishes though, you need to go to Testors (and if you brush it on, be ready to sacrifice the brush).
