dwarvenranger
"Well, it seems like these kobolds bought the house down so to speak. Might be they have a warren underneath that nobody knew about and tunneled in the wrong direction. I suppose that it could have been brought down deliberately, but I can't guess as to why they'd want to do that. Either way, there's an area to explore here, although it'll be somewhat treacherous, at least getting in will be. I see two ways in," he point his spear in the directions indicated "there, up the slope created by the rubble, and there, along the wall. Either way we take a chance, but I'm game. What about you fellas?"
Darcstaar
Mal will slowly climb up the ramp to see if he can figure out how easy or difficult it might be for everyone. (Take 10 = 15), look around, and come back down to report what he finds.
Auberon
"If Mal dies, I suggest we go the other way," quipped Aear.
haldir
Mal, you start the climb up the ramp. It's slippery due to the loose rocks & other debris. You are able to climb it fairly easy thou, taking your time & such. As you get to the top, you see the following: The 2nd floor is now expose to the open sky, it contains some smashed furniture bits & other debris. You do see a trap door in the floor leading down to the 1st floor but it's blocked by a stout timber beam. With some brute strength it probably can be moved. You make your back down fairly easy as well. As you arrive back down to ground level a woman of elegance & grace along with young man that is probably her son arrives at the scene. "Lady Devy, welcome." Deputy Hodd says to the woman Baroness Origena Devy & her son, Arnholde "Thank you, Deputy Hodd. What the situation & what are you doing about it?" she asks him. "Well, your Ladyship. Letha & I have scanned the area & we are assessing the situation. It appears to be kobolds, thou we've only been able to find two of them & we aren't exactly sure how they brought the tower down or what." He goes on to explain the situation, but really he is over his head in this. The Baroness scans the area & see the party. "You there, what is your name?" (She says to Mal)

haldir
“Today’s your lucky day. Mulle and Hodd here can’t handle this without the Sheriff to hold their hands, and I want to know what happened here. You & your companions seem to be a capable bunch. If you go in there and look through the rubble—find out what happened and why there are kobolds in my town—I’ll pay the lot of you 500 gold pieces. While you’re looking around in the ruins, keep an eye out for any signs of our local eccentric, Hunclay. It seems somewhat suspicious to me that he’s not here. Let me know what you find.†Anyone hearing the Baroness's voice can make a Sense Motive check.
Auberon
(10+2)=12. Aear is apparently not paying close attention.

haldir
Bregan, you notice there is a strain in her voice when she talks about the tower. She says that her fool of a husband lost his life in there due to his carelessness & such. She had come to think that the tower was a memorial to him & in a way is sorry to see it go. She also adds that she isn't surprised to see it finally fall.
dwarvenranger
"Sorry to hear that your excellently, the lure o' adventure is strong and oft leads ta dangerous places. Was his body recovered? If not we could see if we can find his remains to return for a proper burial."

Auberon
[i suppose I should add, don't wait on Aear for a response to move along NPC dialogue. He's not inclined to be the party face and it probably wouldn't turn out well anyway.] Aear halfway listened to the conversation the others were having while he returned is attention to what was left of the tower.
haldir
"His body was recovered. Fortunately he brought along a friend. They only made it to the third level, when he lost his footing on the stairs & fell downward." She pauses before continuing onward "He ended up breaking his neck when he landed back down onto the ground floor. He wasn't much of a explorer. He was more suited to tending gardens & plants & such." She says with a slight smile. "He never made into the sub-levels. Pretty sure he wanted to explore the top floors first & then bring extra help for the dungeon. By all means, begin when you are ready. Your reward will be waiting for you when return." She says to the party. The only way to the dungeon is back up the ramp or by climbing the wall to the 2nd level & then dropping back down to the 1st level. The door with the large beam in front of it is the way in. To all those that decide to head into the ruin, give me some Climb checks & which way you'll attempt. The wall doesn't appear to be as dangerous as the ramp. Tower Rubble
