The grinning metal statue looks interesting, but searching a pile of rubble in the western room reveals some rusted weapons & bits of armor. What catches your eye are a pair of mithral daggers with a strange series of notches carved into the flat of each blade. They were stored in a tightly latched iron case. They appear to be still usable as weapons thou.

[Looking at the PF rules it seems there's no point in attempting to retrieve a used sling shot so...]

Aear notices everyone else staring at the metal statue and leaves them to it.  Treading carefully around the rubble he heads toward the iron door, stopping about 10 feet away and cocking his head to the side as he examines the southern area. [take 10 = 16 if it matters]

The statue is in fact a iron maiden. The rust stains upon closer inspection are in fact dried blood stains. There is a handle to open the left door.

The iron door appears to be just that a iron door. It does have a pull ring to open it. There is a keyhole in the middle of the ring.
