02877: Mountain Troll :: Thrym WIP #47R

Recommended Posts

Okay, following the finale of the Copper Dragon ... Soonâ„¢ ... I will start this guy.

In between efforts on finishing Gauntfield and the Dragon, I've taken to cleaning the troll.

I'll spray a new coat of primer on him shortly and base coat him.

Stay tuned.

LOL

Sadly, he's part of Thrym's Joten Horde and will be joining his brethren soon.

Besides, I already have your address from the exchanges.  How's Vaeloth the Hellborn Paladin?  Has he vanquished evil from your home yet?

He is trying but his "home shelf" has been gaining evil occupants the last few months!

Good choice!

Sweet.  I painted this one up a few years back.  It is a really fun model.

Nice work on him

Thanks, he reminds me of the Incredible Hulk's adversary, the Abomination ... minus the wonky fish/fin ears.

Emil_Blonsky_(Earth-616)_from_Hulk_Vol_3

So, that's effectively what I plan to do with him using the Moss Triad as his skin tones.  Beyond that we'll see where this all leads.

And to continue the effect of making this troll more like the Abomination:

The finished Moss Triad ... well, minus some washes I will do later once I have him painted up more.

This guy is on my bench for work Soon, too.  I've been filing him on the side, but never noticed his chainmail fannypack before.

It occurs to me that I spend an inordinate amount of time painting and staring at troll butts.

Observations:

Subject currently looks like Marvel's Rhino got community service working a school crossing.  But the paint job does make his skin stand out.

Conclusion:

Painting Resumes tomorrow.  Stay tuned!

Presenting the Rotten Mummy, as the name suggests he's a Mummy that's going rotten, and he's part of the Egyptian faction for the game Twisted by Demented Games.

It's a really fun to paint mini that is annoying hard to photograph, but I think I did a decent job on him.

As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

Hey, all! Its been a little while and I finally sat down and painted something. I put these guys together and I'm really happy with the shading. I wanted to put some water on the bases, so I tried wrapping them with plastic and pouring realistic water in. It... did not go according to plan. The water cured unevenly, shrank, left weird tide lines, partially peeled off... Basically everything that could go wrong with it went wrong. Luckily, I had sealed the model before pouring the water, so I was able to peel it off with an exacto and some tweezers. I salvaged what I could and I think they still look pretty good.

I present to you the almost nuclear looking troll that utilizes FolkArt's Ultra Dye "Purple Rain" as its inspiration and base shadow and wash.  Also included in the skin triad are Reaper Blood Red and Reaper Brilliant Red for the highlights.

I'll add the remaining paint list later when they are in front of me.  For now, pictures:

Technically this is a WIP since the base is unfinished, but the figure is done-ish..
